Comfortable alternative to plastic cone, but don’t leave unsupervised
I followed the measuring instructions and the ‘large’ 25cm cone is the right size for my small (22kg) labrador who had eye surgery. The cone attaches to a normal collar with elastic loops - it would not work well with a wide collar, or if your dog is able to wriggle out of their collar. The Velcro fastening is sturdy but my lab has managed to open it a couple of times accidentally by barging (with force) into furniture, so can’t be left unattended. There are removable stays which keep the cone rigid and can be slid out if you want to fold it back, but you have to take the collar off to remove them unless your dog is very cooperative - I guess this is a useful feature if you’re protecting a shoulder and don’t need the rigidity? But you can’t just fold the rigid collar back easily for your dog to eat.The cone is definitely more comfortable for sleeping than a standard plastic cone; it is less likely to catch on things, and doesn’t leave such bruises when rammed into the back of your legs. It is heavier than a basic cone, and hotter in the summer, and limits your dog’s peripheral vision. It is very easy to put on and off once attached to the collar, and the reflective stripe round the edge is useful for evening trips to the garden.I would recommend this if your dog has to wear a cone for any length of time, especially for sleeping in, but consider alternating with the basic plastic cone from the vet if you leave them unsupervised, or if the weather is hot.

Great sturdy and supportive cone, does the job well
I spent ages trying to decide whether to get the XL or XXL for our 48Kg rottie, I went for the XL and it fits him perfectly. Sturdy, supportive and stops him from reaching his back legs (post TPLO op). I think our dog appreciates the black colour, it makes inside the cone quite dark and he likes that. The Velcro is quite noisy to undo but it’s strong and I don’t think our dog could get the cone off which is most important. There is a little bit of weight to the cone which doesn’t bother our big lad but might be more noticeable in a smaller dog. He wore it for the first time last night and seemed to sleep well (including on his back which is his favourite position). Very pleased with this purchase, far superior to the horrible plastic cones.

Fabulous for protecting my dogs eye.
My dog had a slow healing eye condition which eventually resulted in him loosing his eye. This product was fantastic, he actually seemed to feel better wearing it. He would wag his tail as I approached him with it then go about his business wearing it. He wore it for walks, around the house and to sleep with the stays removed. I actually used two of them over about 8 months. I wiped them down easily with antibacterial wipes throughout the day and this kept it clean. Far better than the plastic collars and for eye/facial problems it was better than the inflatable buster Collar as my dog could still rub his eye on the furniture wearing the buster collar. I think this collar is fabulous and wish vets would at least offer this to patients.

waste of money
I was looking for a soft cone for my dog as she needs to wear it long term to stop her chewing an open sore on her back paw,There is a real gap in the market for this!I thought that this cone might have answered the difficulties but it was not a good fit. It was long enough and it was more comfortable for her than the rigid plastic cone. It is fastened with velcro and that popped open and she soon learnt how to undo it. The cone was very expensive for what it was and ended up being a waste of money.

Dirty, disgusting with another dogs bacteria on it! Do not buy. Item is not new like it should be!!
Item is dirty with another dogs slobber and hair all over it.Not a new product. Item was bought for my 1 year old labrador who is recovering from surgery and so I wanted a better product than the regular plastic cones. I don't expect to receive an item covered in another dogs hair and slobber which harbours bacteria and could infect my dog post surgery!!!One star given as I cannot put 0 stars.... But its definately a product to avoid.Extremely disgusted in this and I cannot return it as my household is shielding so cannot go to a return point. so I'm out of pocket with a defective product.

SOOO much better than the vets plastic cones
Don't bother with anything else.. just get this. It works! SOOO much better than the vets plastic cones. Used when we had our girls tail docked. The plastic vet issue ones broke within 24 hours but not before scratching the tail in her efforts to get to the wound and keeping me awake most of the night while crashing around the house, not to mention numerous bruises to us as she tried to get to us! Also tried inflatable collars which punctured within 24 hrs or weren't effective. Lots of money wasted. This cone should be standard issue at all vets or at least offered as an alternative.

Great purchase
I wish I'd bought one years ago. Has been brilliant whilst our dog recovers from latest surgery. I bought the large, which is just about big enough for our springer. If he had really really been determined to bite his stitches on his hind led we'd probably have been better with extra large, but I thought that might have been a bit big and heavy.

So much better than the alternatives
We tried an inflatable collar but my lab could bend round and still remove stitches from a cut in her back paw. We then tried the hard plastic cone provided by the vet which she hated. This cone was recommended to me by another lab owner. Much to my surprise my dog was actually happy to have it put on and has been so much more relaxed since. She was also much happier to go to the vets with it on and get her dressing replaced. It acted as a kind of blinkers so she couldn't see what they were doing and stood quite happily whilst they worked away. I am now much happier about handling future cuts, which she is bound to get.
