Excellent device!
My husband is a contractor and he loves this. When he’s on a ladder needing to pull out plastic, or paper the locking device holds the paper/plastic on the masking device; so it cuts straight every time with no waste. Nor loss time trying to untangle a mess from paper/plastic coming unraveled. This should come standard on any handmasker.

Made the job easier
Used this with the 3m M3000. Together it made the job of spray painting the kitchen and exterior of house so much easier

Works great
If I know anything you need 12in to cut plastic, and it does a great job. Just rip off the guard and make sure you wear pants if you stick the holder in your back pocket otherwise your calves will be shredded like freddy kruger.

Absolutely Necessary - buy this blade for 3M masker!
Removed the guard because it is only there because the company has to put it on there - liability im sure. This is THE cutting blade to get for the 3M hand masker! It seems expensive to buy this separate blade for 70% of the price of the masker, but the masker is not the same without it! Works Great for paper and plastic film. saw-blade style points cut right in and hold while it cuts through the plastic/paper. very sharp so be careful - it will cut whatever you touch the blade to!

THIS is the blade you want for the M3000 hand masker
Like many people, I bought 3M's M3000 hand masker without realizing it didn't come with a blade. So I bought the only one available locally: the FB12 (on the right in my picture). Well, the FB12 flexes as you tear so the cut comes out crooked. Makes the masker absolutely useless. The FB12-SC "straight cut" blade (on the left) -- the one sold here with the plastic doohickey that attaches to the far end of the roll of film -- is the one you want. It makes everything rigid so the cut is more-or-less straight. Still takes a lot of practice to use the whole contraption well, though. Be prepared to waste a roll of film and tape getting it right.

Blade Sharpness On Point
Get it if you need a blade foe your masking gun 3mm I go through a lot of material and this blade is perfect evertime I cut material I recommend to remove the plastic guard if your familiar with using the machine otherwise keep it on so you won't cut yourself

A must
This product worked exactly as expected. I actually purchased the main assembly through Home Depot but they did not sell any of the accessories to go with. I was able to find this on Amazon at a very reasonable price.

Confusing product names
03-20-2024The 3M M3000 works OK with the FB12-SC paper holder. Without it, it’s more difficult to get a clean paper cutting action. Amaz and HD sell the FB12, which is often mislabeled as an FB12-SC. Amaz sent me the wrong product < twice >.I finally got all the correct parts from PaintersSolutions dot com. The FB12-SC includes a yellow plastic bar assembly that holds the paper. Other reviewers have posted pictures here. The FB12 does not include the bar assembly, you want the FB12-SC.3M recommends that you leave on the plastic blade guard, while others remove it to get a cleaner paper cut. After an unnecessary amount of fiddling, the hand-masker works. The basic design idea is good; getting it working shouldn’t have to be this involved.
