Alloy 718 cold reduced nickel bar is a precipitation hardening nickel-chromium alloy containing significant amounts of columbium, aluminum, molybdenum and titanium. The alloy is cold worked after solution annealing and is typically used for high strength fasteners requiring a room temperature minimum tensile strength of 220 ksi after precipitation hardening. It is typically used at temperatures up to 900° F. This grade has oxidation resistance up to 1800° F. Alloy 718 cold reduced nickel is multiple melted usually with either a vacuum induction melt (VIM) followed by a vacuum arc remelt (VAR), or a vacuum induction melt (VIM) followed by an electroslag remelt (ESR).
