Will this hold a standard 38mm metal rim lens?

It holds the standard trial lenses that we have in all 7 of our other sets. The trial frame quality is not super, but passable.

What is it made of? Is it plastic?

I have since given it away, but it seemed to be made mostly of some kind of light metal--perhaps aluminum, with plastic bits here and there (knobs, nose pads, and the like). It was rather heavy to wear on the face. The arms were adjustable with some kind of sliders, and the earpieces were semi-circular to hold the ears a bit more than regular glasses arms.
