this toy ROCKS!
The other reviewers of this toy probably have problems of their own that don't relate to the item. I'm an adult. My friends are adults. There are NO children involved in the enjoyment of this product. We all love it. It ROCKS. This toy zips high above your head, 20-30 feet, making a cool UFO sound complete with light effects. Maybe it's because we're ADULTS and we're not saturated or spoiled by today's demands on the toy market, but we get the biggest kick out of flying these and are working towards getting a whole fleet to scare the neighbors.

FUN, FUN toy!
READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!FUN: This toy is FUN! It's amazing. The guys who designed and built it are GENIOUSES! Maybe aliens built it. It's themost-fun toy I have seen in a l-o-n-g time. But, it's not for kids. It's DELICATE and it's a throwaway. But, it's FUN! Itshould come in a pack of 2 or 3 crafts because they're easy to break.AGE: My box said, "5+." That's NUTS! The instructions said not for children < 10. That's still WRONG! I would say 15-100.Supervise at both ends (15 and 100).KIDS: Forget the kids! I am going to keep this toy for ME! I am over 40. I'll SHOW it to the kids but closely monitor any kidunder 15 who tries to fly it - unless I am ready to throw one away and buy another. Kids tend to jam down the trigger andmake it go FAST. That's DUMB with the HoverCraft! Would you do that to a helicopter? Same principle here.CONTROL: VERTICAL flight can be controlled; period; not horizontal. It CAN hover at any height up to 30-50 feet -- if you are good enough to SQUEEZE that trigger in and out -- gently. BUT, a breeze can send it off course to come crashing down - on its top. The controller allows VARIABLE speed of the motor! You CAN speed it up as it descends so it doesn't land too hard. But, if it touches AnyThing, it is likely to crash.DANGER: Cume on!, it has a spinning prop! Try not to let it touch anything while in flight. That includes people and animals!BROKE: I flew my craft outside and inside. It will NOT take off from an uneven surface. If it lands hard, the solder joints can and will break, after a time. The frame is made of styrofoam and it's delicate. My craft broke after several flights. Itlost power to the motor and one of the side-mounted LED lights died. I am going back to the store and buy at least one moreHoverCraft! I resoldered the power lead but won't replace the LED. It has two.DISASSEMBLY: It's tricky to take apart and harder to re-assemble. Elves must have put these things together. Maybe Santa built them in the first place; or ... EXTRA-TERRESTRIALS.UPGRADE: I wish they had a DELUX model for, say, $20 more. I would buy one in a flash. One that was a bit more rugged. Theelectrical connections are too fragile. I think HORIZONTAL flight would be too much to ask for for under $100 because itwould require at least one more RC channel.NOISE: Someone said it was noisy inside the house - nuts! It "whirs." Big deal! The more it whirs, the higher it can go!!PETS: It drove my dog nuts, for a while. It survived the dog. The dog is recovering.FLIGHT TIME: Okay, it's short. But, what more do you want for a $20 toy?! It charges quickly! Buy 2 or 3; they're cheap!VALUE: OUTSTANDING! Figure $10 for the batteries, $10 for the controller, $10 for the charger, and the rest is FREE!READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!

Unique and worth the price
The fun factor for this toy is way up there.I bought this Hover Copter toy for my 8 year old daughterafter seeing and using it at a relative's house. Here are my thoughts:Pros: Fairly easy to use - one button remote control. Rechargable battery charges in 15 minutes. Can entertain a child (and adult) for hours. Lightweight. Moderate price for a R/C toy. Cool looking flashing lights (especially at night). Stays fairly close to operater, (as oppossed to a R/C airplane)Cons: Can easily get stuck up in a tree, or on a roof. Very sensitive to winds. No directional control. Only last about 5 - 8 minutes for each battery charge. Can eventually break upon hard landing(s), (Just like any other Flying R/C toy). As some users in the previous post have mentioned that the Hover copter will eventually break after using it for a while, here is a tip. You can prolong the life of this toy by learning how to make a (softer) landing. The rate of rise and decent of the Hover Copter can be modulated by (pulsating) the power as the craft starts to decend. It is best not stop the power while the Hover copter is high up - it will come crashing down. Power needs to applied "on and off" repeatedly as the craft decends back towards the ground to "slow" the decent, and to prevent possible damage. This Hover Copter can take lots of hard landings, but like any other flying R/C craft, it can be damaged.(Flying R/C crafts need to be made out of extremely light materials, such as styrofoam, or balsa wood, to defeat the effects of gravity with light to moderate power. Plastic would be too heavy for this application.)This is why anything that flies is vunerable.Try crashing a R/C airplane a few times- it's finished! Here is a possible remedy to crash damage: After one of the crashes, the propeller would not spin, but you could still hear the motor spinning and whining. If this happens to you, you can try the following: With a small jewelry screwdriver, unscrew the (3) screws holding the prop assembly and remove it. They are in pretty tight, so you will need some concentrated power. Do not unscrew the other screws. You will see a small gear attached to the motor.Take a small screwdriver and "pry up" the small gear very carefully. You should hear it "click" back in to place. Re-install the prop assembly. I recommend using the Hover Copter on a very "light wind" day, or, in a large room inside, (auditorium, gym, etc.) If using in a windy situation, it will drift away fast, and, or tip over and come crashing down. Considering the price, and fun you can get from using the Hover Copter, I feel it is well worth the price.LJ

Short but good
It's definately a unique toy. My son and I had lots of fun with it. Three flaws is that it's hard to use under the slightest wind conditions. The head cover isn't durable enough and the play times are short. It does just as advertixed with the 30ft up, but whenever it falls it always lands on it's head. Since there's hard surfaces around housing areas, it's gonna land on it sometimes. CRACK! Good thing is it still works. Then there's the playtime. It only needs 15 minutes to charge, but u only get about 8-10 minutes of pure flight time before time to charge the copter again. It's worth trying.

Cool toy.
While the commercials make it look more amazing than it is, it's still a cool toy. The remote control allows you to control the speed of the fan and make the saucer go up and down. You can't control left and right and the slightest breeze will cause it to take off. That's the fun part in a way... the unpredictable behavior. We've had ours for 2 years now and the kids love it. Yeah, they go a while without playing with it, but when they bring it out, it a blast.
