Serious piece of kit
Bought this to join two armoured cables after I relocated my shed. I had tried several ‘waterproof’ junction boxes but these were simply too small to cope with the stiff cables. This junction is designed to take serious cables with serious voltages. My 12mm armoured cable looked a little lost but carefully following the instructions resulted in a very durable and confidence inspiring join. This is really designed for professional use in trenches. As such it is not a small item. I was able to tuck it under the decking out of sight.

No issues
Never used anything like this before so was a little concerned about doing it. However, reasonably straight forward to assemble. Could maybe do with some silicon rubber covers for the terminals in the pack rather than rap them in tape however does the same job. If you have a basic knowledge of electrics this will be easy to assemble but if you are unsure probably best getting a qualified electrician to install.

Helpful hints
Old cable join. Worked well. For info! The joins need to be staggered. That is to say don’t cut the cable at one point. The join is quite long so the cable can be joined at differing ponts so graded. There were four joins in the kit. I only used 3. There’s a earthing strap for the external amour wires to join and a spring cylinder to wrap around. Turn it inside on itself to wrap around. Small piers worked well. A Allen key was used( and supplied) to tighten the joins. Electric tape was supplied to cover to prevent shorting. Better if staggered. I had problems as my cable was short and cut was in one position. But still possible but not advised. Wrapping insulation round wasn’t easy. I pre cut and placed before joining. The gel pack was interesting. Pre heat as suggested. Then you need to open the outer pack. I thought it was a snap one mix ampoule but it was one bag bent around a platic rod with a u shaped seal clap. Interesting idea. Anyway. Open the outer foil pack remove the u shape clip and rod and mix. Then cut corner off. There’s plenty but get it in the hole and slowly. I had no problems with rapid set but cold February day. Summer days may be interesting but no problem.Seal the ends with the tape as advised and there was plenty of base catalyst but don’t spill.Have yet to try the join. Will feed back if problems.
