Works great even when adding to a fan that didn't originally come with a remote
I read a lot of reviews and the capability of working for a "new Install" was not clear to me. I also saw the vendors' caution in their product description. So I checked with them directly. For Pete's sake - all this is is a switch that operates from a remote. Why wouldnt it work? Well, they responded back that it would and that their statement about New Installs is a bit cautious in order to avoid product returns. All that said, if the canopy cup where your fan hits the ceiling can accommodate the receiver, then the install is simple and it works. The black and white wires get connected to the receiver black and white wires. The three wires coming out of the receiver connect to the black, white and blue wires to the fan. The black and white are for the fan motor and the blue is for the light. (Sometimes black is red for some installs). And the bare wire from your ceiling gets connected to the green wire that is grounded on the canopy metal. (The green wire is not connected to the receiver in any way.) Just make sure that you do not leave the dip switches all up (like most people do...) and make sure that the dip switch pattern in the receiver matches the remote. I just flipped dip switch 3 down on both the remote and the receiver. You will need a 9V battery for the remote. Once all this is connected, the thing just works. AND the fan has three speeds AND if you hold down the "light" button (it's green), the light will dim and brighten. So there you have it: remote control of your fan with dimming light. I am not clear why this would not be compatible with any fan, as it is really just a switch that sits between the power source and the fan/light. But I am not an expert on all fans in the world so there may be some reason of which I am not aware. But I'd say for your run-of-the-mill standard ceiling fan, this should just work. I purchased the 53T-28R. Hope this helps.

Works Great
Product works Great in my Harbor Breeze fan. The old wireless receiver stopped working so I bought this one.Shipping was fast and the instructions provided are simple to follow if you need them. There wasn't a lot of space between the fan hanger and wiring box above, but this was thin enough that with a little wire tidying, it slipped right in.The wires are color coded but you need to know which wires are going to operate the fan vs the light to connect it correctly. The controller is much more responsive than the old one that it is replacing, which I very much appreciate.Only time will tell how long it lasts, but as of now it has been a great product.

EDIT: Booo, failed after one month! -- Improvement over original (PN: 89309-06) in my Hunter 22549
My controller died and I figured that I would give this one a shot since it was well reviewed and was cheaper than the Hunter replacement. It works fine. I have incandescent bulbs in the light so I don't know if dimmable leds will dim, but the incandescent ones dim as expected. There is no hum or other odd noises. Now for the best part.It retains the last state when you turn off the light switch! The hunter controller defaulted to everything off when the wall switch was switched off and on again. You had to use the remote to do anything with it. With this replacement, you can use your wall switch to turn the fan/light on and off and the remote is just for adjusting the settings. Obviously you can turn the fan/light on and off with the remote, but you aren't restricted to it.The only negative so far is that the remote is huge, but as I mentioned above, you only need it to change the fan speed or adjust brightness.

Works great - very happy
Rated this four stars, not five, because the receiver is so large it would not fit into the fan bell. I had to make an electrical enclosure and house this above in the attic thereby allowing just the wires and antenna to drop down into the fan bell. It works great and the instructions are clear for those that may need them. Just very disappointed at the physical dimensions of the receiver. I read other user feedback that said they somehow managed to fit it into the bell, NO possible way for my fan. I have one of these for just a light, without fan in use at another location in our home. That received is about 1/3 the size of this one, so I was caught off guard and a bit shocked at the size. Caused me a bout 30 minutes and $10 of parts to make the attic electrical enclosure so it worked out. Just would have been very easy if it was designed better to simply fit.

Great Replacement.
Bought this as a replacement for my old emerson remote. Received it in two days, but it did not work so I returned it and received a replacement thru Amazon in two days. Put battery in and set the dip switches and got ready to be disappointed again but it works great (actually better than the original). The green button for the light actually glows in the dark. I was almost ready to buy a new fan but am so glad I gave this one a second chance.

Works great
Very happy that this replaced the fan/light transmitter and remote for my existing fixture. Saved me the cost of buying a new ceiling fan/light, which I didn't want to do as I like the one I have.

It fits.
Our big Hunter Douglas fan would have been over 500$ to replace. He realized that it was the receiver in the fan that had finally quit. After At least 15 years old. After talking to reps in the company they decided they could not send parts to Canada. So Amazon had this universal. He had to just hook it up himself and it seemed a little bigger but it does work like a charm. At this price so much cheaper tan a new fan. We are very pleased.

Easy and worked great
When we bought our house 8 years ago, there was an old remote, that looked like this one, but older.. there was no brand on it.... it never really worked great and I had no idea what brand it was and of this remote would work... well it worked great, the instructions were not super clear but at least gave me an idea of what to do. A YouTube video gave a great tip to find out what your current fans "frequency" is set at.. if you have your old remote, to look inside and see what 4 little tabs were set at, and that's what you set the new one at. Mine was already set to the correct frequency and it worked put of the box with just installing a battery. For $26 it is well worth it.. don't think there is a sleep timer that I can see

Works with Allen Roth Fan
The Allen Roth fan had to have the light removed from the base to match the receiver to the remote. Once that was done it worked fantastic. So pleased to be able to get a new remote that worked as the fan was purchased in the US in 2013. New batteries were also required, but we expected to have to replace them as well.
