I can not speak highly enough of this battery grip!
This grip is brilliant. Reportedly as strong as the Nikon one, but better, since it has a wireless remote shutter release. The Nikon would cost me £355.00 from my Nikon dealer whereas this one cost me £40 and is better, with the remote function. The remote control function is not infrared (IF) as advertised but is in fact wireless radio control (RF), which I find better. This radio control is better than Infrared as it makes it easier. You don't have to point the remote directly at the camera or have it bounce off objects as you do with the infra red. In fact I used it in another room and it still fired the camera. The remote control will work with or without batteries in the grip. The operating switch must be on however. To achieve 9 frames per second you need the battery for the D5 or D4 camera. This battery was originally the EN-EL18, however better performance batteries have since been introduced; the EN-EL18A and the EN-EL18B. All operate at similar voltages and are fully interchangeable with the latter ones operating at a higher capacity, which means you get more shots per charge.I am using a third party DuraPro EN-EL18/EN-EL18A battery from Amazon with the DSTE MB-D18 Battery Grip which works perfectly for a cost of £26.99.To use this battery, you also need the BL-5 Battery Chamber Cover, which fits in the grip. I bought this from Amazon for £11.95.Then of course you will also need the battery charger for the D5 battery.I bought the DSTE® DMH26A 3-in-one Power Battery Charger from the same seller as this battery grip for £44.49.Now you are all set to go for 9 frames per second.

Well built for the price
Works well. No issues. The build quality is pretty good but obviously not quite Nikon. The remote control works fine but it could have been a bit more robust in build. At the price makes it a no brainer really.

Gave up after 3 months.
Unfortunately the grip failed and stopped communicating with the camera body.I tried the other two battery holders that came with the grip to no avail...very disappointing.

Helps* Nikon D850 achieve 9 fps - please read on!
Any owner of the Nikon D850 who dreams of 9 fps, without the almost £1,000 outlay to achieve it, please read on... I apologise for the size of the review, I wanted to answer the questions that I sought, prior to purchase.Whilst I was quite nervous about this purchase, on delivery, I was immediately impressed by its quality- certainly fit for purpose! The kit includes: 1 x EN-EL15(a) battery holder (no battery at this price point), and 1 x 'AA' battery holder that takes 8 aa batteries (not included). This item also includes a working remote control - all of which are of good quality.* To gain the utopian 9 frames per second: I purchased the cheapest BL-5 battery cover, a white box EN-EL18 Battery, and the 'LCD Twin Battery' charger (all located & purchased from Amazon).Once charged & battery grip fitted, the D850 recognised the Battery Holder (buttons of which showed up in D850 menu for customisation), and the (white box) EN-EL18 battery, that also showed in D850 menu, where it offers the option to use battery 'in camera body', or the battery 'within the grip'. Success: 9fps was indicated by the D850's info screen, and the shutter sound, & speed confirmed this - what a $aving, and improvement to camera body and balance. imho, I also think this increases camera's focusing functionality...I should point out, this was purchased with my own money, and that I have not been sponsored by anyone - just a profoundly satisfied customer / photographer.

Really good value but one or two limitations.
Excellent, but a few limitations. I don't need the 9fs, but as I have large hands I wanted something that would afford more grip. Pure and simple. Rather than splash £350+ on the Nikon grip, I chose this. Although it does not have the same build quality, it does exactly what I require and makes the camera easier to hold.Other than the build quality, the joystick does not move the focal point - not an issue for me at all, but one to be aware of. But, for less than £40, you really cannot complain. I was tempted to return it to see if ~I could bet one that was 100% functional, but in the end was quite satisfied with the one I purchased.Best of all though, was the included wireless remote control. Although simple, it fires the camera with no issues at all and makes this bundle a good deal.

Does the job and difficult to argue with the price
Only just arrived but seems well made. I am not trying to get 9FPS (can't see why I would), so am using the standard (Nikon) 15 battery. There do not seem to be any compatibility problems and any reservations I have would also apply to the Nikon version. I notice that the joystick on the grip moves the cursor in live view slightly more slowly than does the joystick on the camera body but it is just as quick in viewfinder mode. As the whether that would also be true of the Nikon version, I don't know. I have yet to find an L-bracket which will fit the D850+battery grip properly at any reasonable price and am puzzled why the likes of RRS can charge $200 or so for a bit of bent metal. No doubt third-party products at a reasonable price will appear at some point; till then, I'll just work around it. The unit+battery does not add noticeably to the weight but it does bulk the camera up quite a bit. I don't know how much I will end up using the grip, given the good battery life on the D850 anyway, but, at this price,I'm very happy try it and see if I learn to love the addition of the portrait-mode controls which I guess will be handy for walkabout/portrait work when not using a tripod. There is no way that I would have bought the Nikon version

Increible valor

Good Substitute for Nikon Product
I have used this battery grip on an older D850 for two months. Look and feel and handling is indistinguishable from Nikon original grips I have used on the D800 and D810. I have not had an opportunity to test the remote control as yet.
