For £4.99... great
Nice robust extension cord. Great for the price. The energy meter is at best adequate. It doesn't have any features that make it particularly useful - no timer, no day recondition and no historical tracking. If you want a running total of continuous consumption its fine, for anything more its no use. But for £4.99, what can you expect!

Don't buy it if you need a power meter
It works as a power extension, but that's all about it. As an energy meter it's no good at all.I had two Brennenstuhl Eco-Line 5 Way Energy meters and they are doing exactly same on all power sockets in my house:-Voltage reading keeps jumping from 0 to 151.2V all the time.-Wattage and amps reading always stays 0, no matter how many electrical items you connect to it.-Frequency shows 50hz.-As it doesn't show previous readings, it won't calculate how much you spent on electricity.I really thought this will work as I've spent some time looking for a decent power meter and found some good reviews about Brennenstuhl products, unfortunately both items I've got are faulty.

Five Stars
remotely turn off the tv, hifi etc, conveniently, for the night, saves electricity, and pays for itself eventually.

Substantial and Very Useful
We have half a dozen standard Brennenstuhl, German made extension leads with either 4 or 6 outlets on them. They have proved to be rugged and have widely-spaced outlets so we stuck with the brand. When looking for an energy meter, this one offers the added benefit of being able connect up to 5 appliances at once with no bulky 'brick' in the wall socket. Another advantage which I noticed in use is that instead of crouching down and squinting at skirting-board level to read a plug-in meter, one can hold the bar socket to either read or programme it in comfort. All 5 of the sockets are measured, not just the one closest to the display. It is absolutely not necessary to enter any information using the settings buttons in order to make use of the main functions. Out of the box it will display; voltage, present drain in amps, present drain in watts and the total consumption (in KW) since last reset. There is also the in-vogue CO2 facility if you find that useful although I guess it works solely on some pre-determined ratio as I could find no way to alter it or switch it off. Should you be adventurous, it is fairly easy to set the time and date along with a unit price for your electricity but as I said, it works fine out of the box to display total energy consumption in KW anyway. The display itself is of a sensible size and should not present problems with legibility. As it is powered by a built-in rechargeable battery it will display even when the sockets are not live.
