Loved it, sold it anyways and then bought it again
I bought this mostly for macros on land and for an occasional water excursion. I loved it but moved up to larger macro gear so I sold it to a friend. I missed it as its so portable and allows me to take macros without my larger gear or if I am traveling light so I bought it again. Its an amazing little camera with multiple settings options, is waterproof and is super rugged for any wildlife/outdoor adventure. With a little tweaking of settings, you can get some amazingly close photos of little things and its alot of fun to play with. The battery life is good but once the battery dies, there is no warning, it just dies so keep a spare on you at all times. I added some photos of land macros I took using this camera combined with the FD-1 flash. If you want to get into macro but don't want to spend a fortune, this is a great choice and I love all the OM Systems products as they are quality and a good value for the money

Solid waterproof point & shoot camera
This is like a classic point-and-shoot digital camera, the kind that were popular in 20 years ago. They made it ruggedly waterproof and updated it a bit with more modern technology, so it can shoot high quality video, it can do burst mode at a very high speed to capture rapid action, but the sensor size is the same size as a cell phone camera, so don't expect it to deliver much better low-light performance than a good phone camera. This does outperform my phone in terms of being waterproof, with double-locking hatches for where you'd connect cables or insert batteries or memory cards. It also has a much bigger, more powerful flash than a phone, and a true optical zoom lens instead of a system of multiple cameras on the back. If you take this on vacation because you want to use it while snorkeling, you might well use it for a variety of other travel photos as well. Compared to using a GoPro or other action camera to take pictures when you're in and around water, then this has some big advantages: Instead of an extremely wide-angle fixed-focus lens as you'd find on an action camera, this has an optical zoom lens that takes pictures in an ordinary range of focal lengths, from somewhat wide angle into a moderate telephoto range. Combined with the option to shoot raw images (so you can adjust them more after shooting, using a program like Lightroom) and optional manual controls, you can get nice still images out of this that look different from what you could get with an action camera. Of course, this is bigger than an action camera, although it's still pocketable and highly portable if you tie it to something. This does have a lot of buttons, options, and controls, so it's a good idea to look through at what the controls do before you're out snorkeling with it, because there are a lot of buttons to futz with in adjusting it. Compared to a camera with a bigger sensor or interchangeable lenses, the only big advantages are size, weight, water resistance, and possibly its speed in burst mode. But the water resistance alone makes this more useful on some vacations than higher priced travel cameras like famous the Sony rx100 line, even if this lacks the larger sensor of an rx100.

Perfect for rugged travel
Got this for a trip to Central America so we would have something durable and water resistant. I've had past Olympus tough cameras and was happy with them - this model continues that trend. The camera is highly durable surviving bangs and bumps on rocks, trees, floors, etc. It did well in water (swimming with sharks, boating, on the beach, river rafting, etc) and on land. Battery life was fine (I supplemented it with some additional third party batteries just to ensure I had enough power). Picture quality is good to excellent depending on your expectations and the conditions around you. The video function works really well and we got some great videos with the camera as well. Overall a fun camera with great functionality and great photo and video abilities.

Awesome Dive Camera
The OM SYSTEM Tough TG-7 is a fantastic rugged camera that delivers impressive performance for outdoor enthusiasts and adventurers. It’s packed with features that make it a reliable companion in extreme conditions. Durability is its standout feature. The TG-7 is waterproof, shockproof, dustproof, and freeze-proof, making it perfect for diving, hiking, skiing, or any outdoor activity. I’ve taken it snorkeling and on mountain treks, and it handled both environments like a pro. The image quality is solid for a compact camera in this class. The photos are sharp with vibrant colors, and the camera’s performance in underwater photography is especially commendable. The inclusion of RAW shooting is a big plus for those who like to edit their photos later. I appreciate the versatility of the built-in modes for different activities, like underwater HDR and macro modes. The ability to capture extreme close-ups with the microscope mode is an added bonus that’s genuinely fun to use. However, I deducted one star because the low-light performance could be better. In darker conditions, noise becomes more noticeable, and the small sensor struggles a bit. Also, while the camera is rugged, it feels a bit bulky compared to other compact cameras, which could be a drawback for some users. Overall, the OM SYSTEM Tough TG-7 is an excellent choice for adventurers who need a tough, reliable camera. Despite a couple of minor drawbacks, it delivers where it counts and is a worthy investment for capturing moments in challenging environments.

Great Everyday Carry Camera
I bought this nice little camera for everyday carry. I have high end DSLR and mirrorless cameras along with pro lenses from Nikon and Olympus, so I'm not expecting this little guy to beat those other cameras out in image quality. This is a small, rugged, and waterproof camera that can be put in a pocket and exposed to harsh environments. It takes pretty good pictures and video. I partially LOVE the macro modes. I bought the guide light and silicone jacket accessories for it. With focus stacking and the guide light this little guy is very fun to explore the smaller things all around us. Put it in one of the scene modes or leave it in full auto to take photos of events, landscapes, people, etc. Again, it won't beat out its big brothers, but is excellent for everyday carry. As the old saying goes: the best camera is the one you have with you. Some would argue that a cellphone fits this space better. I disagree. This thing is cheaper than the high end cellphones, is more durable (both shock and waterproof), it has advanced computational photography features, and it has a whole ecosystem of accessories. I like the GPS features to include compass, altitude, and temperature. You can geo tag your photos and videos. You can also shoot in RAW format and import your pictures to your favorite photo editor. The free OM Workspace works just fine. Finally, the camera connects easily to the free OI.Share app on your phone so you can send your photos there to share with others. I love this little camera.

Ok, all purpose camera with underwater option.
Awkward to use, especially in changing time zones. Picture and Movies are ok quality. Ok, all purpose camera with underwater option.

Seems tough and easy to use
The kids already dropped this on our hardwood floor and the camera still seems to work great. The display resolution is mediocre but overall the camera functionality seems intuitive.

Was great but quickly has issues for me
Only had this about 2 months and had very high hopes for it. I will say that the macro and microscope feature is (was I should say) awesome and takes amazing up close shots. My issue with it is that is developed this purple glow directly in the center of the image and also causes it to become blurry. I am very familiar with cameras and the lens is clean, proper lighting with photos. The blurry purple spot also takes up about half the image with the use of microscope mode and a quarter with photo stacking mode. This camera has never been dropped or wet and has been treated like a high end camera. I was hoping to replace my big camera in the field with this for fungi taxonomy projects but looks like this will not be the case. Have to now send this back in for them to repair or replace. I bought this as a friend has one and has had no issues so I believe it might be a great camera but maybe just my bad luck of getting one with issues.
