Q: can this product come as a shelf only unit as i do not need a hanging rail. i already have a shelf with hanging rail

It only comes with one shelf which can be positioned at the top or bottom of unit. The rail does not have to be used. I cannot see any fittings for further shelves even if you could get them.

Yes the doors can be hung either way :)

Q: Is this a shelves only unit?

No, the unit has one shelf which can be placed at the top or bottom of the internal space and a bar to hang things from (above or below the shelf, depending on placement). I put the shelf at the top of mine, and there's still room enough underneath to hang a full length coat, it's quite tall when put together.
