Easy to digest, nice neutral flavor
It is possible that most people are looking for mung beans to sprout but we cook ours. They were first recommended to me by two very helpful clerks in an Indian grocery store in Knoxville TN as being very easy to digest so I bought a package to try. Indeed they are. They also taste pretty good!Mung beans need very little soaking and cook much faster than most dried beans so they are handy to have on hand. There are a lot of recipes on line for these beans. Some call for the hulled yellow split ones, but I always use these whole green beans. Our personal favorite recipe is from a small Indian cookbook I have. It calls for topping the cooked and gently flavored beans with "crisp fried onions" which are simply very thinly sliced onions fried in hot oil until they are brown but not burned (a bit tricky to do). The fried onions provide a good unhealthy (but very tasty) balance to the incredibly healthy beans........Sorry.......I had to say that.Seriously: We have found all of the Bob's Red Mill products we've used to be very good quality. These Bob's Red Mill beans are more expensive than those from the Indian grocery store but I don't have to drive 70 miles to get them either! Once you have tried a single package of a specialty item and like it, it is great to be able to stay home, use no gasoline, and get a case lot order from Amazon!

Great for Taiwanese dessert!
The price is quite high for these versus getting them at a Chinese supermarket. But I am not anywhere close to one of those, so Amazon to the rescue! That being said, these mung beans (same brand) sell for $13.99 at the hipster grocery store across the street from me. So the price for these are a steal comparatively. Thumbs up. But my fiscally responsible mother is shaking her head at me in spirit.I use these beans to make a Taiwanese mung bean soup. It's a sweet dessert soup, but I usually keep it heavy on the beans, light on the soup & eat it for a healthier dessert alternative. They're full of awesome nutrients and dietary fiber, so you'll feel like a champ. If you're into bubble tea slushies, if you blend it with ice & throw in grass jelly it's pretty great. Just remember to make your soup sweeter than you'd normally do it to balance out the ice.

Easy To Sprout...Great In Stir Fries
This is my first time sprouting Mung Beans. It was sooo quick and easy using my Easy Sprouter which was purchased here on Amazon. I've had it for over a year to sprout various types of tender sprouts for salads and sandwiches. I just discovered bean sprouts are very expensive in the supermarket for stir fries compared to sprouting your own. AND they tasted so fresh and yummy. Can't wait to make another stir fry dish. Oh...added some to fried rice I made from left over Asian Chicken. Be sure to add them at the end of your cooking time. Only takes a minute or two for them to become limp and heated through with a wee bit of crunch to them which is just how we like them. Tasted some raw after I rinsed them before adding to the stir fry. They were sweet and crunchy. Think I'll try them in salads too. This is a regular purchase for me from now on.

Great quality beans!
These mung beans are excellent quality, just what I've come to expect from Bob's Red Mill products. They got to me quickly and were well packed. I have made the mung bean stew and the mung bean dip which are recipes found on the back of the bag. Both were excellent. These beans are much more easily digested, giving less gas and making it a better bean to use for more delicate digestive systems or for the sick.

These beans arrived about 2:oo pm I put them to soak right away and by the next morning were showing signs of sprouting. They seem to grow very fast. They must be very fresh. I've tried lots of different sprouting methods--baskets--stacking trays--but I always go back to the tried and true quart jar When rinsing the sprouts I NEVER throw away the rinse water --that stuff is magic elixir to my house plants

Only thing missing is Organic
Nice beans for sure. I've been sprouting them to make bean sprouts and they work very well. Only negative for me is that I wish that Bob's offered some organic ones though...

Excellent product
I can't find mung beans in my area. These are great rice beans. I eat wheat rice, curry, sweet potatoes, onion and mung beans- all mixed together- each day for lunch. Make up a batch each Sunday and freeze for the week. Never gets old and provides perfect punch of nutrients and energy around 350 calories for a cup. Great low calorie, high protein, flavorful bean!!
