Q: How do connect it to wifi as ive tryed and it fails

You have to hard wire connect it to your router, the same one as your phone and the one it will use on the network in the wirelss state. Once you have connected to the camera via th app, with it hard wired, you can then disconnect it from the router and fix it in place. The app and camera will then work fine.

Q: does this record all the time or just when there is motion detected? I want to record everything but be able to turn motion detection on and off

you can set the camera record all the time or just the motion events.

Q: Does this come with a battery? As it says no battery but not clear if it doesn't come with a battery or doesn't need a battery?

This camera does not come with a battery. It will need to connect to the wall socket for power UP. If you need the battery camera, you can search for the key word B08HZ2HWVM, B08JPQ3449.

Q: Does it support current wireless security protocols, like wpa2 or https?

the camera has its own protocols. Please use the MIPC app to setup the camera.
