Quality Steam Iron
I find this type faster to iron with its 'on-tap' steam generator with a water chamber large enough for most ironing sessions. Comes up to temperature quickly. Its best to place on a stand or work surface close by if your ironing board doesn't have an adequate pull-out table for it.Its worth the investment in my opinion and after using I wouldn't want to return to a regular iron.

Excellent iron
Very quiet but it appears not to be as powerful as I was expecting. Much less steam/ water - perhaps in an attempt to make it quieter - but all in all an excellent piece of kit and I use it very regularly. The quietness is wonderful I must admit - I can iron while watching the tv and no longer have to turn the volume of the tv up to 90 while doing so ! 😂

Very poor packaging and average manual
The iron arrived when expected. When it was opened it was obvious that like others had mentioned Rowenta make good irons but need to take lessons from others in how to package heavy items. The actual iron was loose and had been marked on the side. A happy 30 minutes cleaning up little bits of while foam. Not what you expect from an iron that costs nearly £300!Now if Amazon got their act together and passed these comments back to Rowenta, they may make some changes. The manual was average at best. trying to cover too many products in one document instead of producing one for each variant. The iron has been used for one batch or ironing and does appear to work ok, albeit being a little nosier than expected. It produces steam and irons the clothes. Now I just need to find an adaptor to hold the steam pipe off the clothes.

Very quiet steam iron
Brilliant steam boiler. Great for all items to iron. This was bought as a replacement, very quiet and efficient. Would recommend.

Excellent, quiet steam generator iron but the tank is smaller than many
This has been my second experience of using a steam generator iron. I like it a great deal, but have been surprised by how different it has proved from the Philips model I have used before.Philips GC9324/20 PerfectCare Aqua Pro Steam Generator Iron (OptimalTemp No Fabric Burns Technology, 6.5 Bar, 440 g Steam Boost)In design terms, this Rowena iron is quite traditional looking and not the prettiest item of its kind. Whereas lots of steam generator irons are now made with more rounded style bases, or in pastel colours, the colours and styling for this Rowena DG8962 steam generator iron are more traditional - a lot of black, silver and grey, with just a little purple and quite a blocky design. I was surprised by how much larger than the Philips model this is (it seems to be about 25% bigger), particularly since the incorporated water tank is significantly smaller, at 1.4L versus 2.5L. Both are pretty sizeable, so unless you use a huge quantity of steam and really don't like refilling the tank, the capacity difference isn't a major inconvenience. The iron component to this steam generator system is a bit larger and heavier than the one on the Philips system - if you have problems with your hands, or do a lot of sustained ironing then a lighter model might be preferable - but this Rowenta iron also gives more control to the user and the larger back part to the sole plate gives better coverage for ironing larger items. As a general rule of thumb steam generator irons seem to be much lighter than traditional steam irons, since their water reservoir is stored outside the iron itself, so whilst the bases can be a bit brick-like, the irons themselves are reasonably light. Both irons have a narrowed front point section that gets into awkward corners and seams well, but this one is more shaped and gives slightly better accuracy. The Philips system uses a fabric safe technology and is self-controlling with no user interface, whereas the Rowenta Silence allows the user to directly change settings according to fabric type. Although I like the easy to use, no-wait when switching between fabrics approach of the Philips system for doing large piles of easy care family washing, I find the ability to control settings directly more reassuring for delicate and expensive fabrics. This iron heats up quickly and is appreciably quieter than my Philips model - its quietness being one of the unique selling points of this machine. This doesn't seem to be prone to the loud, intrusive intermittent groaning noises that accompany my Philips iron being on, making it much the less antisocial choice if I want to iron whilst watching TV when there are other people in the room. The one thing I don't particularly like about this iron compared to the Philips model is its safety clip. The safety clip on this Rowena iron is a plastic frame that lifts up and clips around the top of the iron to help keep it docked. The iron rests on a flat surface and to use the clip, you have to put your fingers quite close to the edges of the sole plate, so this is only really safe to use when the iron is cool. By contrast the Philips iron docks into a slightly recessed area on the base, so there's a protected area around its edge, and an integrated lock grips the iron without fingers going anywhere near the plate.

No brainer
This iron was a replacement for the previous model we had owned for many years, the best iron we had ever owned.New iron just as good or better.
