Canon Camera grip GR-E2 (supplied as standard with EOS 1V)

I found the larger battery grip (PB-E2) a little unwieldy on the EOS 1v, so I replaced it with the GR-E2. The grip comes with the little plate that covers the power drive and results in a much smaller and lighter camera body.But note; I have had the grip fall off my EOS 1, so make sure the retaining screw is well tightened and always keep the right size coin in your pocket so that you can change batteries.

For the last six years I've been walking the streets carrying either a 1N HS or 1V HS, taking the 8 AA powered drive off and replacing with this is recommended, my osteopath was pleased...

I purchased this grip to 'downgrade' my EOS 1N HS is which too heavy for general carrying. The official part for the 1N is the GR-E1 but the GR-E2 is 100% compatible. A 2CR5 battery fits in the grip and that takes a little working out because there are no instructions included, not even a slip of paper. The slower wind is immediately obvious. Nice to have a blanking plate included to seal off the motor-wind socket, as well as a protector for the battery terminals on the removed power booster. It's a quality bit of kit that offers a big improvement in usability, but when you consider it is just a few pieces of plastic and rubber, it's expensive for what it is.
