I got these for my chicken coop and was surprised at how large and heavy duty they are. The carbineer clips that come with the feeders are also extremely heavy duty. I ended up mounting my feeders with zip ties because the carbineers were cumbersome to use when connecting through hardware cloth. The feeders also come with stainless steel washers and screws so you can also mount them on a solid surface easily. These would be great for larger animal feeders like dogs or goats. The feeders are very deep and will hold quite a bit of food or treats. It will also keep your animals from slinging food everywhere. Sadly they will not work in my chicken coop for all of my birds because I have several bantam chickens and they are not tall enough, and do not have long enough necks to reach into the feeders without hurting they neck on the lip of the feeders. I really wanted them so I could use them for oyster shell and grit because my birds are horrible about wasting and slinging these items all over the place, but since all my chickens can't reach in that deep I cannot use them for that purpose. I will keep them in my coop anyways as it is still a great way to give my larger birds treats or different feed that I don't necessarily want my little chickens to have access to.

These are going to be interesting. Not sure the hooks will be sturdy enough over time, and use. We shall see. But these troughs will allow less waste of feed, to be sure. We shall see over time how they do with my flock. We decided to hang the feeders on a wall, rather than on the chain link, to keep the feed dry when it starts to rain. The chickens are definitely not wasting as much as they were with the other feeders we have, and they aren't kicking a lot of shavings into their feeders. When they do, it is very easy to keep clean. We do need to top up the troughs since they are not very big, but that is fine.
