Tefal GV6720 Effectis Steam Generator, 2200 W [Energy Class A]

I have never owned a steam generator iron and after careful consideration and reading lots of reviews, I settled on the Tefal Effectis GV6720 Steam Generator Iron. Wow. I will never go back to using a traditional iron.Pros:1. The iron is very effective in getting creases out of clothes. It is absolutely effortless and will save you a great deal of time if you iron regularly. If you want to make ironing less of a chore, this iron is the one. I actually quite enjoy ironing now as it is so quick and the results are so crisp!2. The heat up time is very quick. Once you have turned the unit on, it heats up in just minutes and you're ready to go.3. The water tank holds enough water for you to get through a big pile of ironing, even when you're using constant steam shots.Cons:1. It is bulky, but then again, most steam generator irons are (and this one is supposedly on the small side). If you're only wanting to iron a single item, having to manouvre the heavy unit (especially when filled with water) into position is a little annoying. I wish I had the space to have it out all of the time. Due to its size, it is also difficult to store unless you have a really big cupboard to hide it in.2. It is difficult to iron items of clothing with tight space such as the material between buttons. Unfortunately, the shape of the iron does not allow this to be an easy task. I have discovered that if you turn the item inside out, you can iron just as effectively. This is probably preferable anyway as I have also lost a couple of buttons from steaming over the top of them. They simply crack under the extreme heat.3. Like other reviewers have stated, the iron does not have a locking mechanism to secure the iron to the base unit. This is a little worrying as if the iron were to slip off the base unit for whatever reason (human error most likely), then you may be left with an iron shape in your carpet (this was how the last iron died). If this model were to have a locking mechanism, then point 1 would be a little easier as we wouldn't have to worry about knocking the iron off when carrying back and forth.Overall, this iron is excellent and I would purchase it again. Although, saying that, I could be tempted into paying a little extra and getting a very similar model with a locking mechanism which I believe that Tefal Effectis do.

Really thrilled with this new iron. I did a lot of research and it felt like a lot of money to spend but it's cheap by comparison to similar models. It's bulkier than a normal iron but smaller than others of it's kind.Functionally it's good smooth easy to handle and really effective. Shaved loads of time off my ironing burden!

I am delighted with the Tefal Effectis Steam Generator Iron. Ironing was one of the chores I dreaded as it caused my back to ache and had to sit down after 10 minutes. The Tefal Effectis is much lighter than my old iron, fits onto a normal size ironing board, and is easy to store and pack away. The time spent ironing has been cut drastically and as the iron is light I can iron a whole load of washing before having backache. I am delighted with the finish of the ironing - trousers, jeans, sheets, and delicates are quickly ironed. I bought it from Amazon 6 months ago and would not hesitate to buy it again. OK, it is noisy to use so I am giving it 4 out of 5 stars!

I am not at all happy, I wish I could mark 0 stars. The steam generator is 5 months old and is already having problems. The fill tank light comes on after the tank is filled requiring the iron to be unplugged before restarting. Then when it does restart, it spurts out water getting the clothes so wet they are unwearable. If you wait long enough, you can finally use the iron. When I called customer service, they said it was due to calc build up and moved into the cord, causing both problems. Unfortunately, the Calc build up light never came on, and when I went to clean it, it was very little build up in the tank. I asked customer service, if I tried their "fix" to the problem and it doesn't work could I return the iron for a refund, and they said no. It is a collect and repair item, which means you are without your really expensive iron while they try to repair a faulty product. I would NOT buy a Tefal iron again. Spend a little more money, and get a more reliable product.

After 2 months the iron started steaming yellow marks on my clothing. I only use steam iron water and totally follow what it tells me to do on the tin !!!. Unfortunately it is past its guaranteed date (late June 2019) and Deep Deals will not replace or help so I suppose it will mean more research for another iron. DO NOT BUY.

We've used this for one year. It irons well albeit noisily. A lot of hissing and regurgitating the water inside it seems. This may be normal for these steam generating irons, I do not know. However thei model has two very annoying habits1/ Every now and then it spurts brownl water out of the holes in the plate and stains the fabric. This washes out, but seems to defeat the point of ironing the clothes!2/ If the steam button is not pressed for a while when in use, it goes into a standby mode which results in a very long wait for it to be ready again for more steaming.I do not recommend this model. I see it is now £180. I bought it for £100 in 2016
