If you’re planning on hiding everything under the panels, the cable for the front camera might be a little short. It might be long enough if you mount the monitor on the rear view mirror. Comparing my non-powered rear view mirror and the Akeeyo dashcam, images from the dashcam appear farther away. Power for the Akeeyo NVX dashcam comes from a aux 12v socket (stock), and I have a Bluetooth transmitter (to connect to my phone) in the regulator 12v socket. They are both on the same circuit and I think the fuse is 15 amps. At lower volumes, everything is okay. At higher volumes, the Bluetooth transmitter might be using more power, so the Akeeyo monitor flickers. The main reason I got this was to see better at night. I mounted the monitor on my dashboard (in the center). That way, I just need to glance down to see what’s further down the road. On dark roads, I can see better with the dashcam, but I’m not sure if I could react quickly enough if there was a person walking on the road. If I got another dashcam, I would want a taller screen (same length). At speeds below 25 mph, I can react quickly enough. Above that, it’s hard. I hope to get better with some practice. It takes me a few moments to recognize people/animals on the screen, and by then, I’ve traveled many yards. The glare from oncoming traffic makes it really hard to see at night. Installation was easy, but the wires are really short. The SD card was easy to format, but I’ll be installing a larger one soon. Overall, this is a pretty good dashcam.

The only reason I did not give all the stars is because the unit goes dark for no reason randomly, but not often. I simply power off, then power back on and the picture lights up. I unplugged then re-plugged the camera just in case, I checked for kinks - the wire kind not the good kind - and found none. It just randomly shuts down the pic. OTHERWISE, this thing rocks. Oh, and if the cam gets wet in the rain, you will see a very blurry picture until the water drips off. . Good product - pretty easy to install for a dork like me . .

After installation I'd have to say that the device works as expected. Super night vision is great. I can see using it to survey the area before you get out of your vehicle. The most unexpected feature that I think I'm going the most use out of is the voice command "take picture" when we see awesome stuff. It's going to take some getting used to seeing headlights pass from the oncoming left lane and then in your peripheral vision seeing someone pass on the right when viewing the front camera. This kinda makes you feel like someone from a side street is about to hit you. The screen is bright at night. I bought some window tint and taped it over the screen it helped. In the end tilting the screen helped the most. It looks odd when you have the rear view mirror pointed towards the passenger seat. With the tint the opposite problem occurred during the day it was too dim so go figure. If they make future versions it'd be nice if there was an easy way to switch from day/night mode or a daylight sensor that auto-adjusted brightness. 3 levels of screen brightness isn't enough. The unit will automatically lock videos if you go over something like a cattle guard so you might want to disable the g-sensor or be prepared to delete a bunch of locked videos. If you're driving on a road in the middle of the night it will see animals on the side of the road but unfortunately - for me at least - it doesn't allow you much more reaction time than driving with your brights on at a safe speed. Which was one of the reasons I was attracted to this device.

Loved the idea of this camera and the night quality of it and both were really nice.......while it worked. I only had it a few months at most before it just stopped working. Which for how expensive this set up was, I was very disappointed and unpleased. Definitely not worth the steep price! Especially for at best 3 month life span. Which nothing was even exposed to outside elements. Everything was inside my truck cab. Also the instructions and paper work was very limited and not very useful as far as English went.

I purchased this product just over an year ago (Dec 2023) because I needed a good night vision camera. The night vision was such a disappointment as the light blur gets so much worse at night it was basically useless. However, because I already installed it, I decided to keep using it. about 6 months in, the icons on the screen completely disappeared in one day. No matter where I touch/scroll even try to hard reset by clicking/holding the bottom power bottom, I couldn't control ANY of the features of the dash cam. Since my main use for this product is for the rear camera anyways, (Although I can't change it back to front view) I kept using it as is until today it completely broke. The issues I'm having: 1. First of all, it just randomly changed my view from rear to front which I have no means to change back 2. Look at the quality of the front camera. SUPER faded for no reason. It's really bad 3. There is a huge light blur in the view 4. Where are all the features you advertised? I don't see ANY of them on my screen. (time, speed etc) 5. Again, I can't change ANYTHING. I'm currently being forced to have a really bad quality front camera that is just distracting while I drive. This is NOT what I paid for (~$300). DO NOT GET THIS PRODUCT unless you want low pixel view with light blur during day time (It gets worse in night time) that will completely break down in about an year.

I was in need of a new dash cam for some time. Sadly age does catch up to you sooner than later. My night vision had been slowly deteriorating the last several years. Upon doing some research online I came across a couple of dash cams that had night vision. I compared their features and I chose the Akeeyo AKY-NV-X. There are a lot of wires to deal with however a few zip ties and wire clips help manage them. The front camera provides outstanding picture quality both day and night. The night time view was my main reason for getting this camera. The night time vision provides a very clear and illuminated field of view. The rear camera is adequate for me. I have my monitor installed in the middle of my dash. The menu is very intuitive and easy to navigate. This was a very good purchase.

My previous vehicle had a factory-installed digital rearview mirror, so I was looking for the best aftermarket option for my new car. I already have a good 4K dash cam, so I didn't care about the recording feature. I also got the Wolfbox G900 – one of the few mirrors with a 2.5K rear camera. Since I knew from the other reviews and the seller (!) that "The quality of the rearview camera you see on this product is really not that good", I had an idea to install the frontal camera in the back and keep the rear camera in the box. Unfortunately, the seller told me that this swap was impossible and offered me instead the "updated" version for $369.99 from the "Other sellers on Amazon" list. It sounded fishy, but I went for it. The results you can see in my pictures... The rear camera is useless in unlit conditions, and the image looks dark like a regular frontal not "night vision" camera. I added S23 Ultra's photo of the same spot as the reference. My frustration got even worse the next week when they dropped the price down to $299 before a coupon and refused to refund me the discount amount. I really liked the frontal camera and the fact that it's not built into the mirror body. Unfortunately, I couldn't use it in the back even with an extension cable because the settings don't allow you to flip the frontal video. Also, as you can expect, you can't connect the frontal camera to the rear camera wires. I give 5 stars for the frontal camera, 2 stars for the rear one, and 1 star for the customer service.

It's not completely set up. I just installed the dashcam screen and the front camera so far to see if it serves a real purpose or is just another gadget. Took 20 minutes to install. A lot of wires but I don't care about that. This is my initial impression after 2 night of testing it out on the dark roads near my house. It takes some getting used to as it makes things appear more distant than they are. Passing cars initially felt like I was going to be hit because on the screen they appear to be coming at you head-on. It initially wanted to make me swerve to avoid an accident. You have to teach yourself this to avoid your reflexes from causing an accident. Screen is bright - maybe too bright at night. It's quite wide - I would not want it any wider. Image is sharp. Touch screen is intuitive. Plug in the GPS and you have time and travel speed recorded for you. It's useful to glance at quickly when looking for store entrances on a dark night or medians that are poorly marked. It also is VERY good when you are completely blinded by the oncoming lights of cars. As I can't see anything, I look at the screen which gives me a clear view of the road instead of nothing. Once the car passes and I can see again I look back at the road. This is an improvement over being blinded by an oncoming car and not knowing about an upcoming bend in the road. This has more features at a lower price than other night vision dashcams. Seems well-built. It WILL prevent accidents, but it requires you to train yourself in safe use. You will GET in an accident if you stare at it all the time or your reflexes think a passing car is coming directly at you. Practice a quick glance then eyes on the road and it's a valuable assistant.

I have bought two of these units back to back, one for the girlfriend's car. One for my own car. The girlfriend's car using the lighter socket. Hardwired for my car. Both have a tendency to shut down on their own, overheating issue? Do love the fact the rear camera can be mounted inside the vehicle, inside the sweep radius of the back wiper. The only really bad issue so far is the Unexplained shutdowns.
