SunnGas Uno Portable Stove

The catch holding the gas canister connected doesn't work very well. Our gas stove overheated (presumably from burning escaped gas) and melted the knobs on the front of the device. When I went to remove the gas cylinder it was so hot I burnt my finger. I can well believe it might have exploded had I left it on longer. Avoid this product.

I have found the little handle that engages the cylinder gas to the notch does not engage well. I am having to hold the gas cylinder to the notch whilst pulling down the handle with a little force. If I do not do that the handle springs back. Just a fault with the product. Depends where you buy it from. My previous stove which I bought somewhere else was fine and lasted two and bit years.

Excellent little stove, so dont know quite what the other reviewers were doing to make it explode. Perhaps the gas canister was not installed properly as it is important to follow the instructions in block capitals on the stove itself, to the letter. It cooked evenly under a big pan, easy to control and comes with a plastic brief case, which, admittedly is not of top quality, but hey, its a very very cheap stove. It is worthy of note that this exact stove is sold under several different brands, including Camping Gaz, where it gets reasonable reviews. Gas cooking with canisters lie this is bound to be fairly expensive. Importantly it seems very stable in use and so is less likely to fall over with a hot pan on top, it easy to light and use (spark ignition) and is reasonably robust. Like any canister powered cooker, I suggest that you turn it off, let it cool down and then turn off all other heat sources when removing the empty canister.

We found the handle that engages the gas cylinder sprung back if you did not use force to get it to stay down. After a few minutes of cooking bacon the whole stove blew to pieces. The bottom of the gas cylinder was found 10 metres away and the blast was so severe it ripped the windbreaker canvass from the wooden poles! I have contacted the manufacturer who said it has happened before but there was no product fault upon testing... What is the bet that they come to the same conclusion when they collect our blown up stove & test it....
