Easy Setup and Clear VideoโGreat First Impression
I recently installed the eufy Security Video Doorbell E340, and so far, the setup has been easy. It includes the necessary installation hardware and extension cables in case your existing wires are too short. However, you will need to provide your own plug adapter to charge the battery. The video and audio are clear, and the phone app sends a human-detection alert when someone approaches the door. I like that it has dual camerasโone facing forward and another angled downward. The lower camera is useful for detecting packages or activity near the ground, and its light turns on when motion is detected in that area. When someone presses the doorbell, the chime sounds inside the home, and an alert is sent to your phone through the app. There are several settings that let you turn different features on or off according to your preferences. The battery is easy to remove using the included key, which makes charging simple. I have only had the doorbell for less than 24 hours, so I cannot comment on long-term battery life or durability yet. However, my initial experience has been positive, and the installation process and features are easy to use.

Very easy setup using the app and 8GB of local storage (no cloud storage to pay for)
This was an upgrade from my previous Eufy T series Video Doorbell. I also needed an additional video Door Bell. I saw this door bell at Costco while doing my semiannual shopping. I read the card which stated this video door bell was both battery and AC powered as well as having the dual cameras. I took a picture of the store card returning home to research and review full product description. My research revealed as stated early the doorbell can be operated solely by the lithium battery which last for about six months on a single charge, however it is recommended that one use the AC power so that you don't have to remove the battery to recharge it. You will have to initially charge the battery prior to setting up the doorbell which will be four to five hours.. Set up is "easy peezy" as they say. On the Eufy app click add new device (if you are using the app already click the "+" icon on the upper right side of the Home Screen). Follow the directions on the app for set up. Scan the QR image from the back of the camera (bottom). Ensure you have your WiFi password ready to input prior to synching the doorbell. I synched to my WiFi router. You will hear the bell ring from the doorbell. As setup moves through its process you will have to scan the large QR image that will appear on the app. When you have the doorbell camera at the correct height you will the doorbell say "Connecting to the internet." If you don't hear those words you will have to try again. Once connected to the internet it will update to the current firmware which takes about five minutes. Once the download and install is completed just click on the gray door bell area and you new Eufy Security Video Doorbell E340 should be showing that you are online with beautiful 2K picture. This doorbell has 8GB of local internal storage (up from 4GB on my old doorbells). You are replacing an Eufy video door bell you will not be able to use the old mount. The E340 detaching mechanism is on top of the doorbell which makes much easier to remove the camera from its mount verses the bottom of the camera like my older model. Total setup on the app was less than 15 minutes if done correctly. I bought my 1 video doorbell from Amazon (if your a Costco member you can save $20.00 over the Amazon price) and my other 2 video doorbells from the Eufy site as they were bundled which saved me $40.00 (at the Costco price you can buy 3 single video doorbells for the total price the I payed.)

Clumsy app, need for expensive add-on chime, does not work well as a doorbell
I bought an E340 after our doorbell wiring failed, and it would have been too expensive to pull new wire. A wireless doorbell was the obvious solution, and I wanted to experiment with a video doorbell. I cannot recommend the E340 based on my experience. A first piece of good news: installing the E340 was a snap: just put in two screws to hold up the mounting plate, charge the battery, and snap it in. The first piece of bad news is that the E340 does not function as a doorbell without an expensive peripheral. There's no wireless dongle that one can use to activate an existing wired chime, and so without buying a $40 add-on chime, you have a bell that you cannot hear in the house. It's no consolation that there's a bell in the E340 since that bell is outdoors. The next piece of bad news is that the Eufy phone app is a hot mess. Start with the fact that the home screen is optimized such that the 2 easy to press buttons are for ads from Eufy and "messages." But those are not messages from your doorbell: they are messages from Eufy. Yes, ads, again. It is very fussy to drill into this app to configure the settings of your doorbell, and the app does NOT walk you through doorbell configuration on first connection. So, for example, one will find what looks like crazy events. Why is that? Because they are tagged with times in the Beijing Time Zone. Either get the local TZ from the phone, or walk us through a configuration process to get it set right! These are just examples: the whole app is a hot mess. Probably the worst problem is that it is very laggy in reporting door bell rings. By the time I get notifications that my doorbell has rung, visitors have given up and gone on their way. The one thing a doorbell *must* do is instantly report rings. I'm not sure what causes the lag here, but it's unacceptable. This is probably related to the doorbell-wifi connection being unreliable. I can say from experience that there's nothing more frustrating than looking at someone at my door, trying to talk to them through the speaker, only to get a pop-up that the doorbell cannot be reached. Our home has multiple Nest mesh network nodes: this is not a problem of insufficient bandwidth. A final note is that dealing with the manufacturer is problematic. I experienced multiple problems trying to order a chime to match the E340. The manufacturer's web site has a compatibility chart for doorbells and chimes. The E340 is not listed. I asked their chat system if a chime model was compatible, and was incorrectly told that it was. Their support pages are a mess of poor writing and it's very hard to determine whether a given page applies to a model that you actually own. Dealing with this bell has been incredibly frustrating and a huge disappointment. It should be a simpler experience, it should be sold with a chime, and above all it should come with an app that is focused on the most important task: letting you answer your door. The current app seems focused primarily on selling add on services and devices.

The second camera sees the box
After returning an add-on model that needed a base station, this is the one I should have ordered in the first place. That second camera pointing straight down is the real selling point, you see the box sitting on the mat instead of guessing from a head on angle, and it flags when a package shows up. 2K in daylight is clean and the color night vision is better than I expected from something running on a battery. It works on battery alone but I wired it to the old chime terminals and now I never think about it. The chime through the app is quiet, and there's a second or two of lag before live view loads. No subscription, footage stays on the device.

It works for me
Seems to function good. Video on the best setting is clear, audio is captured loud. I have it hardwired and my indoor wall mounted mechanical chime works when the doorbell cam button is pressed. I have it automatically saying one of the canned greetings. Our android cellphones chime. I interphased our Echo Show 8" to say Someone is at the door and a cam view is shown on the Echo Show for about 10 seconds. Our other Echo DOt smart speakers also announce Someone is at the door. The hardwire option is simply a way to keep the doorbell cam battery charged up so you do not need to remove the battery to charge it up. There was a battery % indicator that always showed the battery in the 88% to 90% range which was a nice touch but there was an update and the % of battery indicator is no longer shown. There is a feature to allow the cam to record an addition 4 seconds beforehand of an event. If you turn that feature ON, you do loose the ability to have your indoor traditional wall chime to sound off. So I am not running the pre 4 seconds record feature as I rather have my traditional wall chime sound. You can set up custom detection zones as well as avoidance zones via the phone app. You can delete history when you like. The On-Board storage is ample amount in my opinion. No SD card needed. It works for me. Your experience may vary.

Great Doorbell Camera After Months of Use
Iโve been using this eufy E340 doorbell camera for months now, and Iโm very happy with it. The setup was straightforward, and the mounting process was easier than I expected. Once installed, it feels secure and has stayed firmly in place. I also like the compact design and appearance. It looks modern and clean next to the front door without being too bulky or distracting. The video quality is very clear, both during the day and when checking activity around the entrance. The zoom is useful when I want to take a closer look at a person, package, or something farther from the door. Having the dual-camera view is especially helpful because I can see visitors as well as packages near the ground. The app has also been convenient. I can quickly check what is happening at the front door even when Iโm away from home. After months of daily use, it has been reliable and has given me a real sense of security and peace of mind. Itโs one of those smart home devices that I now use every day without having to think much about it. Overall, Iโm very satisfied with the design, installation, video quality, features, and reliability.

Great Video Doorbell
Easy enough to install and replace a previous hardwired doorbell. The 15 degree mounting bracket add-on came in very handy, not only to make sure I had the right view for the front door, but also provide a little extra storage space for the wire caps for the extension cables. Definitely use the positioning tape/guide to make it easy to see where the mounting brackets and screws need to be. Battery took 3-5 hours to fully charge before installing and using. Sound quality is spot on, and easy to customize and is compatible with Homebase 3 and Eufy app for alerts; some older doorbell chimes may not work alongside this though, and Homebase alert sounds are limited. Would be nice to be able to customize your own alert sound. You do need to adjust the detection settings as it was picking up every little motion and cars all the way on the street. Lots of features in the app, mostly AI-based to alert you of when a package is delivered, if someone messes with a delivery after, and whether a delivery was forgotten after a certain time you can set. Concerns: I've read there are concerns with the battery charge while hardwired, but it appears the battery will deplete until <90% then start charging back up. Mine has hovered between 88-90% without the chime jumper cables, but I have installed those to see if that changes anything. Transformer already met requirements. At night, there is a slight flicker around the package camera edges, but it's not the actual light causing it; during the day the video is fine. Most likely due to ground/surface surroundings and the infrared light, but isn't affecting the main area of the video feed. Main camera during the day and night is great quality.

So far, so fair.
I have 3 Eufy cameras and a Homebase at my house. We recently added this doorbell. Previously we were running a Ring Doorbell for several years, before getting the Eufy Doorbell. It has some pluses and some minuses. Minuses: biggest gripe for me is the slow response. Iโm not sure if itโs a doorbell issue, app issue, lack of cloud connection or WiFi issue. But if I click on any notification it just seems to take a very long time to load. I typically miss 95% of the live events. My Ring doorbell was older and not the best, but the interface and notifications were much faster and seamless. Not sure what the issue is. I do have an older Homebase 2, perhaps thatโs an issue. Homebase is Ethernet connected. Router is less than 15ft from the front door. Doorbell has wired power and running on WiFi. All the same setup as the Ring. But much slower and laggy. Lastly itโs the doorbell button. Itโs huge, but for whatever reason you have to press the upper portion for it to ring. If you press near the bottom it will depress and not activate or trigger a ring. Which is so odd, donโt know if mine is defective or thatโs the way they are? Pluses: the camera quality is excellent. Itโs very clear, as is the microphone. I really like the dual camera setup with the package delivery detection feature. This is a nice feature at this price point. I like that it integrates into the Eufy app,l and uses my Homebase, as I already have 3 other cameras around/in the home. So itโs nice not having to check both Ring and Eufy for recordings. The detection features are pretty solid, but not 100%. To be fair I had this same issue with Ring. Every so often the doorbell wonโt detect someone that approaches really fast from around the garage corner. Iโve come home to deliveries or got emails etc saying a delivery was complete. But I never got the notification and Iโll check the doorbell, nothing. Iโll check the exterior cameras and thereโs the FedEx or UPS guy delivering a package. Itโs really good at weeding out false alerts too. The Ring faced the same area with same perimeter selected. But Iโd get a lot of alerts for a car driving by in the street. Eufy seems much better at its people/pet detection. Overall I really like the doorbell in general. I just wish it could alert faster and the button was a bit more sensitive. But weโll see how it performs over time. Maybe it will get better in both accounts.

Reliable and High-Quality Security for Home and Business!
Iโve been using the Eufy Security Doorbell both at my business and home, and itโs been a game-changer for monitoring and security. The video quality is crisp and clear, even at night, which gives me peace of mind knowing I can easily see whoโs at the door. The 2K resolution is impressive, and the motion detection works flawlessly, notifying me immediately whenever someone approaches. What I love most is the two-way audio feature, which allows me to communicate directly through the doorbell, whether itโs with delivery people or guests. The setup was simple and quick, and I appreciate that thereโs no monthly subscription required for storing footage. The doorbellโs design is sleek and modern, fitting well with both home and business aesthetics. Whether Iโm at home or at work, I always feel connected and secure. Itโs a great investment for anyone looking to enhance their security setup without the added costs of traditional monitoring systems. I highly recommend the Eufy Security Doorbell for anyone who values convenience, reliability, and high-quality security for both residential and business properties.

This is a great addition to our Eufy Security Homebase. Pictures are sharp even at night and being connected to the EuFy Homebase works BEST.

Need to Charge Battery full before connecting to HomeBase
I got it on Black Friday for less than SGD$200. The product arrived in its factory default packaging. Got it working on Tanden with the existing doorbell, which does not have the ground view Cam. Initial setup is straightforward; you need to charge the battery and 1 meter from the HomeBase.
