Recommended Purchase
Waited forever for this to hit amazon, when it did I snagged one immediately. I always prefer a bumper (& skin) on my phones ever since the Nexus 4 (sexiest Android device to date IMO). With the Pixel 2 XL there's only 2 real options for a quality bumper, this proven Rhinoshield Crashguard or the DBrand Grip which isn't expected to ship until March/April...Screen protectors on this device are a damn nightmare.. I'm not sure this bumper will work with the protectors that go all the way to the edges but appears that it would work great with the Whitestone Dome glass. The Crashguard is nice, perhaps even nicer than the version made for the OG Pixel XL.The buttons feel great! It's nice to feel the texture on the back of the phone, at least until my skins come. Out of the box, the bumper doesn't feel extra "grippy" but i'm expecting that to change with a little use. Overall this is a very practical item to purchase for protecting the phone.

Honestly wouldn't recommend paying $25 for it when there are other very ...
Edit: I've had more time to use this case. It's really irritating. The Rhinoshield bumper for the Nexus 6P was my favorite case for that phone. It had both rubber and polycarbonate in it's design. The rubber helped provide a great grip and it did not slide out of my hands or off of surfaces. This newer bumper costs the same exact price, but they cut corners, it is entirely polycarbonate plastic. It's matte and very very slippery. I've dropped it a ton already because of its rounded, smooth design. There's nothing there to help grip it at all. $25 is a ridiculous amount to pay for this case, it doesn't even have a back to it. It's like 20% the material of a better case that you can get for much much less. And you can tell they're fine half-assing it since they only offer it in a single color this time around. It's a decent bumper, but a little slippery. Honestly wouldn't recommend paying $25 for it when there are other very good quality cases out there for just ten dollars. The hard plastic is so smooth and rounded that it can slip out of your hand if you use your phone one handed. This is disappointing after using an older Rhinoshield bumper for the Nexus 6P, it had a rubber ring on the front and back of the bumper which kept the phone from slipping from your hands or sliding around on surfaces. This lacks any sort of grippy material.

Ok case, but not for me.
I've been looking for a case that protects my phone without adding too much bulk, and makes the phone easier to hold. This phone case hits most of those marks. It supports the phone when it inevitably falls, though I can't say how much because I haven't dropped it yet. What I do know, is that it's a pretty firm and hard rubber/plastic material, so a lot of the shock might transfer to the phone, but the glass should be reasonably protected. As for the bulk, this case doesn't add much. It just makes the phone a little bit wider to hold, the back is open and shows the full beauty of the phone that I love. The case doesn't inspire much confidence, however, in terms of making it easier to hold. The material is pretty slick. The only addition is the fact that there's more of an edge when your taking it out of your pocket, but it's a smooth edge, so it's not anymore grippy or easy to hold.Overall, I like the style of the case, and it seems like it'll protect it from a drop, but it doesn't make the phone any less likely to drop.Edit: After a few days of having this case I decided to return it. It's not soft enough and leads me to think that any drops will protect the outside, but will still jar and break the parts inside the phone. Also it's just as slick as the phone itself, so it doesn't really make it any easier to use.

Great bumper case
Pretty amazing little bumper. I have used it for a whole day, and here are my feelings about it:PRO:- Light, and durable. I have dropped my phone down the stairs (by mistake) and there wasn't a scratch anywhere- Snug fit, but unlike some of the other idiots who have posted reviews here it is extremely simple to remove the case. I have done so at least 5-10 times. If you want it loose, then it defeats the purpose all together, as it should be a snug fit to keep it from falling off on impact.- The buttons are nice and tactile. Really enjoy that.CON:- The price. As it is just a bumper, and although a high quality one, I personally think the price point is a bit high at 24.99. It should be a tad bit lower, maybe 5-10 bucks cheaper. Are there better alternatives? Maybe? I personally don't know and am happy with my purchase.- I wish there were more accessories (such as a clear back) for the Pixel XL 2, as there are with the iPhone X. That would really bring a smile to my face :)Otherwise with the pros and cons above, I give this a 9/10. The price is a little high, but I can tell you after it took a tumble down some concrete stairs it held up just fine.As for those who are reading the reviews:1) I PURPOSEFULLY tried to break it. Twisting and bending the frame (the guide clearly tells you not to do that, and installing it requires NO bending of the frame). It won't break from my testing2) Those saying it won't come off are weak. It came off pretty easily several times (5 times so far) and there was no signs of damage to the phone OR the case.

Simple yet effective protection and showcase of that Pixel styling!
The Rhinoshield for the Google Pixel 2XL lets me protect the edges of the phone - Which are the most risky part for drops/dings/scrapes while showing off the style of the phone. I'm thinking about switching to the 4XL this fall and this will be my go-to approach to protection if it happens. There are lots of reviewer complaints that the newer Rhinoshield's aren't as "rubbery" or "grippy" but I found in my use that it is very easy to hold onto but isn't sticky so it doesn't collect lint in my pocket- The perfect mix!I do think its slightly overpriced for such a simple device, but in the mobile protection game, its all about value pricing, not cost-plus... They know they have a customer in me, as long as the price stays reasonable...I also love that you can customize the power button - I haven't ordered a special color yet but I'm tempted to get the orange one to show my Google style!

Not a fan personally, but try it out anyway.
Usually I don't get cases on my phone's as I just don't generally drop them and the added bulk takes away the beauty of the phone. Although it's adverised as not adding bulk, of course it does. But I don't feel that that's the cases fault, the 2xl is a pretty large phone as it is and with my somewhat small hands adding the case was just too much and made it necessary to use two hands. The case itself does lift the phone up from a flat surface so it will prevent scratches on your phone when placing it on a table, right side up or upside down. I use a plastic screen protector but I still think it would probably still protect a tempered glass screen protector too if you have one installed. The case was rather slick and isn't grippy at all so although it may protect it from drops I honestly felt like the phone was more secure in my hand without the case.Another thing I didn't like about the case was that it bulges out a little where the buttons are (the frame of the case itself bulged out not the buttons on the case) and this made the phone look curved on one edge and straight on the other. The bulge was very slight but still enough for me to notice it and be annoyed by it. This may have just been a one off issue with the case I got but overall I felt I didn't like the case enough anyway to justify the £20 price tag and decided to return rather than exchange.

Good solid edge protection
This is a bumper, so offers no front or rear protection but I bought it because I tend to drop phones onto their edges and I can think of no better product to protect a phone in this way.It actually makes the phone easier to pick up - to get your fingers under - although if I were to suggest an improvement it might be to give it a slightly rubbery feel.Quite expensive for what it is at nearly 20 quid but I guess the Pixel 2 XL isn't anything like the volume seller that Samsungs are. Anyway, if you want the best...

Rhinoshield once again offering one of the best protection options
Rhinoshield once again offering one of the best protection options. After having cycled through multiple cases I'm once again settled on the lightweight bumper. Camera and screen protected from direct contact, sides protected from drops. Very minimal additional weight - a nice contrast from many other cases on the market. If I had to make one complaint, where I'm fumbling around in the dark for the USB-C socket it's scratched up the socket area. No big deal, can't see it day to day and I expect it'll last a long while yet.

If you want drop protection, this is it.
Had this fitted for over 3 months now. I can only recall dropping my phone twice and the phone survived both times. The first time I was on a step ladder cleaning guttering on a bungalow, it dropped from my back pocket onto tarmac at least 5 feet (onto the corner of course) and left some quite deep scratches on the protector but the phone was entirely unharmed. It also makes it much less slippery so dropping it from your hand is pretty unlikely.Might be a negative for some, but I like that it's thick enough that when you put the phone on a flat surface, the protruding camera lens does not touch the surface. It's an awesome camera, definitely want to protect it!

Excellent fit and looks good.
I look at some of these reviews and wonder whether the reviewers actually received the right product. Yes, it is a tight fit - but you don't want the phone falling out if you drop it, that 's the point of a bumper case. It adds minimal bulk, minimal weight, looks good and allows easy use of all switches and ports. I have only had it a few days so can't comment on its durability, but my bumper case for the Nexus 6P went on and on without problems.
