Keeps chain muck off trouser leg.
This product works well keeping chain muck off your right trouser leg. I commute 100 miles a week, and this saves a considerable amount of laundry bother, in addition it has prevented the secondary transfer of oil from trouser leg to furnishings etc. It is easy to get on and off and after several months shows no signs of wear. Since chains are on the right, this is designed to fit the right leg. One's trouser leg can get clammy underneath, but it doesnt claim to be breathable, perhaps this is more noticeable if it is worn next to the skin to keep your leg clean. After months of use the oil shows no sign of working its way through the material. It is high vis yellow, and hopefully catches drivers attention. It does not come clean in my washing machine, wiping it down with WD40 and a rag seems the best approach to cleaning where it has rubbed the chain.

Winner! No longer have trousers getting eaten or greased by my chain, no longer worried I'm damaging my chain/gears
Ok, so I've had some funny looks as I've walked into work wearing this but it is great. I no longer have had my trousers getting eaten in my chain, no longer worried I'm damaging my chain/gears/ and no more black grease marks on my trousers either. The reflective strips show up well so hopefully increases my visibility and safety too. Multiple wins. The grease really shows on this so I know exactly how much grease I've protecting my trousers from. I've washed this leg shield by hand once and am pleased that the grease came off easily and the leg shield didn't fall apart at all.Delivery took a little longer than planned and the seller did contact me to apologise and explained. Seemed fair enough and I wasn't in a rush. There isn't anything else so far on the market like this and I think it's better than tucking your trousers into your socks or using clips. The price is a little steeper than I'd expect and once a couple of vendors/suppliers catch onto this product, competition may force the price down a tad.You only need one as the chain is on one side of the bike and only the leg on that side needs the shield.Product DescriptionThe Leg Shield is the perfect solution for protecting your right trouser leg from hard-to-clean grease stains and preventing trousers from getting jammed in the bike gears. With the existing trouser straps & clips, grease gets on your trousers and they can slip down or come apart. With the Leg Shield you don't need to worry about ruining your trousers and can have a safe and enjoyable ride. It's great for bike commuters and recumbent riders. We also sell high-quality reflective ankle bands on Amazon. VERY COMFORTABLE, EASY TO PUT ON.
This trouser protector works extremely well. I made a mistake thinking they came as a pair but it is a single item, so if you are like me and like things to be even, you will have to pay double! Before buying the black protector I had bought a pair of fluorescent yellow ones for my bike and they are excellent and highly visible. I was so impressed with the comfort and the ease of putting them on that I decided to buy a pair of black ones to use as gaiters for my golf and walking, as normal gaiters are fiddly to put on. As yet, I have not used them for golf or walking as it is Summer and the ground is not sodden. However, that said, when Winter comes I will have a better idea as to how they fare for that use.I have found when cycling, that they can be extremely warm in the hot weather but you don't notice it until you take them off. To sum up, because of my age I do not cycle huge distances but I am extremely happy with the yellow ones as they are highly visible, but I may update this review about the black ones when I use them as gaiters in the Winter when the ground is very wet, but added warmth will be welcome!

Pricey but good quality
The fluorescent yellow version is highly visible, keeps heavy waterproof trousers wrapped up neatly away from chain. Easy to adjust tightness, comfortable, warm and gives your legs a little extra protection (I often scrape the back of my forelegs with the pedals by accident). My only issue is I had to buy 2 (you only get 1 clip) because I didn’t like how my trousers were clipping my bike on the non-chain side. This meant they were quite an expensive buy but depending on trousers you’re tying you may only need one clip. Overall I would reccomend, quality product.

Fulfils its Purpose but Very Sweaty
This works, and deserves its good reviews.BUT it is not very breathable, and results in a very weird sweaty lower leg feeling, even when it's not that warm outside.I would say therefore that it is uncomfortable.I would only recommend to buy this if you absolutely MUST avoid any dirt on your trousers, and do not mind being sweaty in one part of your leg.For most people I would say just wear a regular cycling clip and wear inexpensive trousers when you ride.

My Trousers are Safe!
I bike to work, and suit trousers and bike chains are natural enemies. This leg shield gives my trousers the armor they need to get through the daily bike ride each day without a scratch. Its easy to put on, and perhaps too comfortable (I've worn it around the office on accident a number of times, forgetting it was there). Exactly what I needed, and what I completly reccomend to other suited bike riders.

Perfect for low snow boots too.
I bought two of these leg shields and they work beautifully to protect one's pants from bicycle chain grease, and as a type of gaiter to prevent snow from entering the top of a low boot. I use them for snowshoeing.

Sehr praktisch

Protect your pants! Way better than the 'tuck' and/or bungee wrap!
Update: I was contacted by the company (Mark), and he sent me a new protector. I really like the product and this kind of outstanding customer service should be rewarded... 5 stars!!! Thanks so much for an excellent product and excellent customer service! My previous four star review: I really like this thing. Especially in colder weather (less than 15 C or so), I prefer to bike in pants (typically jeans). If you can related, you've undoubtedly tried the 'sock tuck' or the 'small bungee wrap' or similar. All of these methods are superior to having your pant cuff munched by the chain, but not by much. This thing is great! It takes slightly more work to get on, but provides an amazing amount of protection, not only from the chain, but from splash and other crap as well. It's also somewhat funny as clearly many people think it's a cast of some sort. I've accidentally left it on a few times and am approached by folks asking what happened to my leg. One negative is the durability. After only a couple of weeks, the reflective stripes have begun to peel off and the top of the velco straps is also showing wear. But overall, I like this thing.Pros: Protects pants, very bright - adds visibility. Comfortable.Cons: Durability - as mentioned above, reflective stripes are coming off, velcro is showing signs of wear. Takes a little extra effort to put on.Summary: if you bike in pants (especially nice ones), you should buy this. And if you really do bike in nice pants, you might want to buy two - one for each leg.
