Cool game
Would be better if it was a two player game but it's pretty cool regardless!

A strong and beautiful story triumphs over mechanical issues.
As a gamer who has never experienced the original Blackguards, I came into this game with zero knowledge about the universe and characters. Let me start out by saying that the aforementioned universe and characters is where this game shines. Cassia, are lead protagonist is a wonderful contrast of good and evil, justified and criminal actions surround her every step. The developer does a fantastic job at giving you control over the serious decisions that must be made along the journey.Blackguards 2 is set up in a world map format, where each point is a strategy battle you must overcome to advance to the connecting areas via trade routs. Every so often the enemy will attempt to retake one of your captured points which throws you into battle. You recruit mercenaries known as the Silent Legion who handle most of these retaliatory fights. The Silent Legion is a wonderfully ambiguous factor that plays into the over arching story in a powerful way. Again, the writing and story telling really shines. You keep a cast of three heroes by your side for most battles. A mage, a dwarf warrior, and another warrior who is the son of a god. As the player, you have a great deal of influence on each of these heroes and how their stories progress and end. Each character has a brilliant voice actor attached to them who, despite the rather low-end animation, gives the character life. On this topic, again, I found myself praising the wonderful writing and story telling of the developer.Where the game falls short is in its ability to run smoothly. Loading times aren't bad for the most part but at some points they can be a bit lengthy. Also, during my play through, the game crashed on five separate occasions. The autosave system makes it easy to save your progress so in all five cases not much if anything was lost. Still, the crashing was enough to break me from the immersion of the brutally dark yet elegantly beautiful universe. Choppy moments occur, usually at the start of battles, but beyond that things are mostly good.Blackguards 2 is a deeply satisfying RPG with wonderful customizable characters and fantastic writing, universe development, and voice acting. The crashing was annoying but not at all a deal breaker. To conclude, I would strongly recommend this game to any RPG fan who loves a good story, Blackguards 2 is a gem.

4 And A Half Stars,Yea Right Or Unbelievably Poorly Executed Or A Bunch Of FAILS Or Its Worth About 12 Bucks!
From the very beginning you'll be able to tell that this is another game that's just been thrown together, without alot of time and effort put into it.Mind you,Im an old school gamer(Final Fantasy Tactics,Ogre Battle Tactics,Champions Of Norath,Etc) but still enjoy alot of the new stuff. That being said,I know the difference between a well executed game and a crappy one.Ive been playing this mess for a couple of days now and just navigating the menu screens alone is an epic chore! Its a very frustrating, unintuitive experience(Fail). And you play a chick for the entire game(Fail).Which I knew going in,but thats only a precedent as to what to expect from the whole game.No options!(Fail)Main character, chosen for you.Band full of rejects following you, chosen for you.You can equip weapons, armor, and such (Hey!).Money is set up in 3 different catagories.Gold (Ducats),Silver Thalers(I didnt make that up),and Farthings.Yet nothing cost farthings,at least so far.Even your weakest healing potion cost 5 gp,and I rarely have more than 20gp all together.Trying to outfit your party(so far 4 characters) with weapons and armor doesnt leave alot of room for 5gp potions. But what REALLY prompted me to right this review is the actual gameplay.By now Ive learned that most bows only travel anywhere from 4-10 hexes.Well obviously the enemy has their own set of rules. They seem to be able to fire from one side of the screen to the other.Literally! From one side of the screen to the other. And very accurately I might add. They'll hit you from the complete opposite side of the map, behind obstacles that prohibit your arrows from even traveling(WHOOPIE!!!!)And whatever the character are when they join you,KEEP THEM AS SUCH.Cause if you try to differentiate from what they are, they'll just miss alot and basically play like crap. You've been warned. If your bored out of your mind, and just quit your job,and need something to do...Go For It.Because its worth about 12 bucks.

Great Turn Based Strategy RPG
Loved this game. Very well made, deep, and interesting turn based RPG. There is certainly room for improvement, but mostly relatively minor things to add a little more depth and improve some of the presentation. Overall this exceeded my expectations and I enjoyed it all the way through.

Kept my Attention
This game has really kept my attention. That alone is a miracle. The turn based movement and combat makes for a stress free action adventure experience. You can set it down then walk the dog and come back.
