High Quintay, Easily Installed, and Nature Way's
I just ordered Wooden Bird House from ReTang. I am very happy with it. It is a high-quality birdhouse that is easy to install and maintain. The birdhouse is made of cedar wood, which is naturally resistant to rot and decay. It is also well-constructed with sturdy joints and hardware. The birdhouse has a sloped roof to help keep out rain and snow, and it has an elevated mesh floor to help prevent drainage problems. The entry hole is the perfect size for bluebirds, but it is too small for most predators to enter. The birdhouse also has a side door that makes it easy to clean out at the end of the nesting season. The birdhouse was very easy to install. I simply screwed it to a tree trunk at a height of about 5-6 feet. I also placed a predator guard around the base of the tree to help protect the birds from squirrels and other predators. It is very rewarding to be able to provide a safe and comfortable home for these beautiful birds. Here is a summary of the pros of the Nature's Way Box House from ReTang:High-quality constructionEasy to install and maintainPerfect size of hole for birdsPredator-resistant designAffordable priceOverall, I highly recommend the ReTang Box House to anyone who is looking for a high-quality and easy-to-install birdhouse.

Great For Bluebirds, BUt Needs Some Modifications
I volunteer for bluebird nest box monitoring in Virginia and wanted to install a nest box in my yard. Given the competitive pressure from assertive non-native species, enhancing cavity nesting opportunities with additional nest boxes mitigates this housing crisis.I initially sought an official bluebird box, but local batch production had concluded by the time I got around to ordering. Consequently, I selected a design closely resembling the official box, prioritizing the side-opening feature for easy monitoring and nest cleaning. Bluebirds raise multiple clutches of eggs throughout spring and summer, necessitating regular cleaning to prevent parasites and insects from infesting the nesting material.1. Material: The box is crafted from pine with a painted roof. Leaving the box uncoated exposes it to UV and water damage, causing it to weather to gray and eventually split. While bluebirds are indifferent to aesthetics, box splitting compromises weatherproofing, potentially leading birds to abandon it. For longevity, paint the exterior with outdoor-rated paint; I utilized leftover gray paint from my deck. Avoid painting the interior, as birds prefer a natural wood interior reminiscent of a tree cavity.2. Construction: Assembly requires some skill and tools to align panels and the roof. Some holes are not pre-drilled, increasing the risk of misalignment. Achieving a perfect roof panel alignment is challenging, often resulting in overlaps or gaps that can permit water leakage onto the nest, potentially causing bird abandonment. To mitigate this, I recommend sealing the roof joint with caulk or butyl rubber tape. The optional acrylic viewing window was unnecessary for me, given my use of the side door for cleaning. Additionally, chick-brooding activities would likely obscure the window over time anyway.3. Safety Features: The box incorporates several safety measures, supplemented by enhancements based on Virginia's local predators and climate. A small entrance hole is shielded by a metal plate, allowing only appropriately sized birds to enter while deterring woodpeckers from enlarging the hole. A wooden false floor promotes ventilation and deters ants, lice, and other pests. To further deter insects, consider sprinkling diatomaceous earth and/or boric acid crystals on the floor. This will deter insects but is harmless to birds and their chicks. Predation by raccoons and squirrels can be addressed by adding a metal mesh porch to prevent access to the nest. For outdoor durability, use stainless steel screws or at least galvanized screws to prevent rust stains when attaching things to the birdhouse.4. Temperature Control: Given Virginia's harsh summers, temperature control features are advantageous. The well-ventilated box, constructed from solid pine, offers some insulation against heat. Opt for light-colored paint to reflect heat; I used gray due to availability but white would have been better. Additionally, I affixed aluminum flashing to the roof to deflect sunlight and protect against UV and water damage. If not using flashing, seal the countersunk screws with caulk or RTV to prevent water accumulation and rot.5. Mounting and Placement: While the box can be affixed directly to a tree or fence, this is suboptimal due to predation risks from climbers like snakes and raccoons. A pole mount offers better predator deterrence. Bluebirds prefer an open field in front of the box for hunting insects, their primary food source. An edge of a woodline facing a field is ideal, though bluebirds are adaptable. East-facing orientation is favored, likely to capture morning sunlight. Given Virginia's hot summers, partial shade during the day aids heat mitigation. In conclusion, with some modifications, these boxes are suitable for cavity-nesting birds. Regular maintenance, including repainting, hardware checks, and crack sealing, can extend their lifespan. By installing one or more in your yard, you can contribute to local bird conservation efforts.

Garbage
Complete garbage, didnt include any screws, bottom piece missing, shipped in the box so address label is covering the instructions. Holes are not pre drilled where they should be or not drilled at all. Will never purchase anything from them again,

Very nice looking!
I got this for my 10-year-old granddaughter for Christmas. Her birthday was earlier that month, and I had bought her a small electric drill and some tools. As soon as all the gifts were open, she wanted to put it together with me. She did all the work, including reading the plans, and was able to get it all together, and was so proud of herself. I plan on getting her a bird book so she can identify the birds that will be occupying her creation for many years down the road. Super happy with this purchase!

Brittle
Wood is brittle in some places - some of the screws would crack the whole edge of the board. Some holes didn't line up. Directions were terrible but we figured it out.
