Epson Perfection V19 II Color Photo and Document Flatbed Scanner with 4800 dpi Optical Resolution, USB Power and High-Rise, Removable Lid

My previous EPSON Scanner, "Perfection V30", finally gave up the ghost leaving me in a position to replace it with a new product. I was satisfied with the V30 so went back to EPSON for a replacement. I have had the "Perfection V19II" for a couple of weeks now and have found it to be much easier to use, a smaller unit overall, with plenty of features for a Home Office environment. The quality of the scans is excellent and are easily saved in a file of your choosing. I'm still adapting to the fact there is NO "On/Off Button" on the V19II; it starts & stops once the enclosed USB Cable is attached or detached from the unit. The software is intuitive and easy to follow & engage. Overall, I would rate the "V19II" a better product than the V30 in terms of size, ease-of-use and intuitiveness. The EPSON "Perfection V19II" is a great addition to any Home Office and ideal for the "Work-from-Home" individual.

This is a very good, low end scanner. This is my "go to" scanner, which I use mostly for documents and pictures. I have had this scanner for several years, so I am not sure if this model is still available. Even if it is available, I think the price has increased substantially. I paid around $70.I recommend you experiment with the scanner's user interface to find the settings that work best for the types of scanning you do. Once you find the settings you like, document them.Pro:Compared to other scanners I have used, this scanner does a good job with shaded areas using low DPI.At low DPI, very fast scans.I have been very pleased with black & white and color pictures. Extremely close to the original, even when blown-up in photo editing. For sepia-toned pictures, I use color.GREAT size for traveling.Cons:The connecting cord (for data transfer and power), has sometimes lost connection due to slight jostles. It is better now that I connected it to a tight-fitting USB port which is then connected to the computer.For small pictures (4x6, 5.7, etc.), I could never get the scanner to just pick up the picture. I now just scan all pictures at 8.5 x 11 and crop them in my photo editor. Orientation can also be flakey, so I again use the photo editor to rotate as needed.

Software is so easy to use, and scanner is very compact so takes up little space. If I knew there I was another model that allows for scanning film negatives, I would have purchased that instead. But the V19 is amazing for the price!
