Hard to find reviews on this great laptop
I was stuck trying to decide between this and the Lenovo y510p. I actually received both, and chose to keep the HP because of a few things:1) Lenovo fingerprints so bad it looks like a crime scene constantly2) Known Lenovo touchpad problems3) No touchscreen on the LenovoVery happy with the decision. This HP has great specs for the price. While it is not an upgradable unit (cannot ad RAM), it is so spec'd out to begin with who cares? The screen is absolutely beautiful, crisp and responsive. The touch is terrific. Speed of this computer is great, and the wifi holds up without dropping off. HP support was very kind when I contacted them about adding RAM, and though it turns out I cannot - there is always flash memory use with Windows 8 anyway. The RAM onboard is not an issue for me anyway.Build quality is second only to Apple. The exterior will not fingerprint up at all - looks great all the time. The fingerprint scanner is a great added bonus, and I use it all the time to login without having to remember a million passwords. I am also able to make my passwords long and challenging, as I don't need to type them once the HP fingerprint is setup. Great time saver, and adds to security by using ridiculously long passwords :)Side swipe from right of touchpad is awesome - pulls out the annoying Windows 8 side panel with ease. All in all this was a great decision - don't fear the lack of reviews or info on this unit - it is 100% amazing and tremendous craftsmanship. Best laptop I have owned in years.

Save Your Money and Your Sanity
Very disappointing, not just the hardware but the software and customer support as well. Shortly after purchasing I traveled outside the country and the power cord wouldn't charge the battery. I contacted HP tech support and I was told that even though the laptop was under warranty, they couldn't help since I was outside the US and I should wait until I returned to the US and contact them again. For a company selling computers internationally, that is just ludicrous. I asked them to contact an HP dealer in the country I was visiting and they refused. I had to purchase a power cord on the local economy. The laptop has 3 USB ports and only one works properly. One has never worked and the third only works intermittently.Concerning the laptop's design, the touchpad placement is such that when typing you can't help but inadvertently touch the touchpad, causing all kinds or unintended consequences. For an expert typist like myself, a one page letter that normally takes 5 minutes could take 30 minutes to type due to the touchpad issues. I finally had to disable it.Shortly after the 1 year warranty expired, ghost bubbles appeared on the screen and programs and files opened on their own. Literally within a one minute period 10 files would open and the mouse and/or pointer would behave extremely erratically, making the computer essentially useless. Google search revealed many people reported this same problem but no one seems to know how to fix it, other than to remove the battery, press the power button for 15 seconds, and reinsert the battery. That fix works for 1 or 2 days and then you have to do it all over again. And when you do a touch screen diagnostic using the HP software, the computer fails the test, but the diagnostic doesn't tell you what to do to fix it, the only option is to call technical support.I've contacted technical support several times and the experiences were mostly extremely disappointing. So, 18 months after purchasing the HP Envy, I am now shopping for a new computer, and it won't be an HP.The computer will not scan no matter how many times you download drivers and update software. I have another laptop that isn't an HP and using the same printer, it scans beautifully, but HP keeps giving error messages but no advice on what to do to fix the problem.

and I love the AC wireless (which connects very well to my ...
Make sure that you get the one you ordered! I bought this laptop (HP Envy 15-k020us) back in late March 2015 from Amazon, and it has served me well since with no real problems. It's fast and speedy, and I love the AC wireless (which connects very well to my Asus AC router). I can't give it 5 stars yet because I need to see how it holds up over time, but so far I'm happy with it. HOWEVER, I needed to replace another aging laptop so I ordered another one of these (the exact same model- HP Envy 15-k020us) the other day but this time the vendor was Computer Upgrade King (fulfilled by Amazon). I'm not sure what exact model I received but it wasn't the one I ordered (the one shown on Amazon). It was weird because the laptop box actually showed the correct model on part the label (HP Envy 15-k020us). But something was amiss- the part of the label on the box that listed all the features was covered up by a white sticker. The model I received seemed to be almost identical to the one I ordered but it was lacking the Intel AC Wireless adapter and instead only had a Broadcom B/G/N card. Sorry but the lack of AC wireless, which it is supposed to have according to the info for this model here on Amazon (and which the exact same model I purchased two month ago had), is a deal-breaker. The other slight difference from the model I ordered was the CPU. It was supposed to be an Intel i7-4710HQ but the one received had an i7-4720HQ, which is actually a hair faster (2.5 GHz vs 2.6 GHz). To me the CPUs are so close in speed that I probably wouldn't notice a difference. But I've seen the increased speed I get on my home network (doing file transfers, etc.) using the AC wireless on the same laptop I bought two months ago (HP Envy 15-k020us), and I would notice that. So I sent it back and ordered another of the same model again, but this time directly from Amazon, just like the very first one. I've dropped off the return to a UPS Store, now it's a “wait and see” on how this plays out (if I get my refund properly, and if the newest one sent from Amazon is actually the model I ordered with AC wireless).
