I purchased this for my wife after she had hand surgery to fuse her MCP joints along with a few other recommendations. This was by far the most helpful adaptation we tried. It helped with her recovery and helped her regain hope in her ability to write again. She temporarily lost the one we purchased and we went into panic mode when trying to repurchase we found out they were out of stock. Such is the importance of this simple but ingenious aid. We are delighted to see these have been manufactured again and have bought spares.

Is comfortable. I’d like take opportunity to say WE can buy on Amazon boxes of Bic crystal refills - no need buy whole pen. I’m go say good value at £7. You expand the fish inside a polythene, under running hot water - instructions on back of packet.

I hesitated before buying this as it seemed costly for a small chunk of plastic and a basic pen. That said, a lot of thought has gone into the design of this item. I suffer from an inflammatory, erosive condition which attacks my hands, so that sometimes I can't hold a standard pen, or handwrite for more than a few sentences before I get severe pain in my hands and finger joints. The Writing Fish helps align my fingers into a more supported writing position and it's more comfortable now. One downside - after just a few days, the supplied pen leaked and was unusuable, although a standard pen fits, so it's not a huge cost, just an annoyance.

Good shape to grip for arthritic hands. Bought for my mum, makes the pen fit better in her hand for writing letters. Exactly as advertised and I would recommend this clever design for gripping for anyone with arthritis in their hands.

brought this for a friend who has arthritis, did not help her and found difficult to use, but worth a go at the cost, will gain if worth and not lose much if does not.

Bought for a friend who has MS & often finds their grip is compromised...of all the aids available this is simple and super effective - might not be the cheapest but it is super effective and is easy to replace the pen. If you have (or knows someone who has) issues with their grip this is quite literally a game changer.
