Great primary level dictionary
When I was searching for a dictionary for my kids I was seriously struggling with all the editions and all the various options available. Thankfully my youngest happened to mention that they used this one in school, so that stopped all my searching and I was able to order one of these. Since it had arrived it has been great use. My kids have daily vocabulary words they need to learn the meanings of, and this gives nice easy to understand meanings for them.

She finds the dictionary easy and enjoyable to use
I bought this for my Yr3 (8 year old) child who loves to independently read Jacqueline Wilson books but often comes across words she doesn't know. She finds the dictionary easy and enjoyable to use. The descriptions are very simple and clear and the alphabet tabs down the page edge really help her when trying to find words and having to think about alphabetical order. I gave it 4 stars because we've only had the dictionary for 2 days and already she came across a word in her reading which isn't in the dictionary: barmy. I don't think it's that unusual or grown up to not appear in a primary dictionary. I hope there won't be lots more words that we don't find because on the whole it's a great resource for this age group

Oxford Primary Dictionary
As a teacher, I find this an excellent purchase for children, especially in the Year 3 - 5 range. The definitions are easy to read and are understandable for children who are developing dictionary skills. It appears to me that many classes do not use paper dictionaries, and students miss out on alphabetical sequencing skills. The shaded coding of letters also assists in finding the words being searched.
