Holds humidity well. I use it in my orchid bark mix. To be sure of it not containing any unwanted eggs or larvae, I always boil All my substrates that are organic for 20 Mins. That’s not to say this contained any.

I would suggest sterilising these first before use, just to ensure there are no mould spores or other unseen entities within the bark - don't forget this is from a live source, so better to be safe than issues in the long run. Overall, they are of a decent quality. Delivery was quick also.

Excellent Product, holds water well. With a proper drainage layer underneath this substrate remains fresh for a considerable time. Orchid bark provides the base for a vivarium housing M.aurantiaca. A natural rainforest look can easily be achieved by covering the bark with java moss - which grows well on this substrate. When properly misted with water this product doesn't stick to the tanks inhabitants. This is a huge benefit. Prompt delivery service also.

I am really happy with it. I use it in my home made potting mix for my tropical plants and it works great. The bark is coarse which is great to add drainage. For any plant person, I used it on philodendrons, syngoniums, pothos, scindapsus, Hoya and sanseveria and all the plants are happy. No issue.

In a year I've only had to use one bag of this with my mexican wood turtle, he has coco fiber bedding with this on top to give him something to easily burrow under. It holds moisture well, and is already nicely moist in the bag, which if you keep sealed stays that way.
