This premier netting incorporates durable flat tape threads and double lock-stitch tearproof technology to produce the ultimate woven efficient windbeak to reduce wind speed by approx 50%. The knitted design allows the fabric to be cut to any length while ensuring against ripping, tearing, and fraying. It does not require taping and is easy to repair if damaged. Material is chemical resistant against pesticides and detergents. Our netting comes complete with eyelets woven into the seams both sides of the net for easy fixing and for joining runs together is so required. How windbreaks work & their benefits reducing wind speed. Windbreaks interfere with wind flow producing an area of relative calm in their lee. The wind speed reduction achieved at a given sheltered point depends upon the height, width and density (porosity) of the windbreak.
Generally, on level ground, windbreaks reduce wind speed by approximately 50% for up to a distance of four times the height of the windbreak and additionally by 33% for up to a distance of eight times its height.
The minimum height for shelter is approximately two times the height of the item being protected.
The minimum length of a windbreak is around eleven times the shelter height.
The optimum porosity of windbreaks is between 50-60%.
If porosity falls below 30% it will cause eddying and turbulence behind the shelter that may result in aerodynamic lift of particulate material.
If porosity is too great wind speed will not be reduced enough to provide protection.
Gaps underneath or between shelters are not recommended as they cause wind funneling.

Perfect windbreak
Bought a few different windbreaks over the years but this one really DOES keep the wind off my plants. (I live in the north of Scotland.) It is reasonably priced and had no problems putting it up. As I wanted a higher windbreak I just put one strip above the first to make it double height and works perfectly.
