A flexible board and good buy
The next generation of Intel's core i series isn't a major upgrade from the previous, but yet an upgrade no less. This board won't blow you away from the 2nd generation sandy bridge, but you probably already know that prior to reading this. What this board will offer is PCI-E 3.0, I don't know if native or not, and some other enhancements over the previous generation. The extreme6 seems well rounded for what else is offered. The extreme4 isn't bad either, but the extremem9 has wifi if I recall right which I have no use for since I bought the internal adapter long ago. So after all my research and looking I chose the extreme6 and have been quite happy with it.When you buy a new board, I am not professional but I advise strongly to update the bios or look into the proper bios updates... which many people overlook and don't find a concern. Maybe problems are solved this way, just a side note. With that said the UEFI is quite nice for a much friendlier user environment vs traditional BIOS. The overclock abilities in this board are quite flexible. Indeed there is the lazy option, or easy option for others, that will overclock the CPU automatically to a few different levels. Starting at 4.2ghz(if I remember right) up to 4.8ghz. Also there is a Turbo 30 option, which I have researched and found to be a quick 30% performance overclock. I choose not to use either of these options. Should you be an overclock genius who loves to touch all the settings, such as tweaking the specific in and out voltages(if there is such a choice for output voltage) and all other such choices you have that power. My ram was XMP so the motherboard allowed me to choose that in the UEFI settings allowing my ram to run at 1866mhz, as well as being already selected on AHCI there wasn't a lot of tweaking needed. I turned off 1394 since it wont be used and other items such as infrared port. A very simple and easy to deal with motherboard.Overall I am quite pleased with this purchase. I have already recommended the extreme4 to my friend looking to build custom and he is very very pleased with it. It shares the same UEFI so he turned on the 4.6ghz Auto OC in the UEFI and has been running stable and happy since. This is run with:i7-3770KG.Skill 1866mhz x 16gbGTX680 OCCorsair Pro 850wSo far this board hasn't been a disappointment in any way, but I must mention something important to me and possibly many others. Some people hinge upon certain tech in their buys, which this board offers Lucid Virtu MVP that allows the internal GPU to enhance the discrete GPU you are running with. Personally I disliked having this installed. The point of this program is to help with vsync(which is the largest hindrance of this software)that has the ludic vysnc options. These shouldn't be turned on according to many performance reviews I have seen and you can find also. The other is to include the iGPU, but as I also saw in the reviews was a detriment to overall performance in many applicable uses. Without Lucid installed everything is running well. I suggest you don't allow Lucid to be the buying choice, even though many other motherboard vendors also offer it.I hope this review was comprehensible and not too long winded. Enjoy your purchase if you choose this motherboard, as I know I will for quite a long time.

Nice board - rock solid and stable
Finally upgraded a gaming rig to a 3570K and needed a new board. The old rig was developing SATA issues, lockup/audio loop problems and had never really run very cool - even at stock speeds. The new system screams, and with H2O cooling is staying under 40c at all times. This board posted right the first time the power was flipped, recognized all 16gb of ram, the cpu and both the HDD's and the SSD's, and prioritized correctly. It will try to set drive modes wrong if you are mixing SSD and HDD, but it's an easy fix and didn't prevent boot up. The bios update stalled on me (apparently a common event), turning the whole system into an incredibly pricey brick pile, but with google and a thumb drive I got it fixed a little later, but prior to that I emailed ASrock explaining the problem and asking for a solution. The did not give an email solution but DID send me a new bios Eprom without hesitation, and they did respond to all emails - not all board makers will (trust me). In retrospect, upgrading from a thumb drive or CD would have saved me a day of panic, had I taken that route the first time.I waffled between this and the Extreme4, and I'm glad to have spent the few extra dollars for the 6. Lots of SATA ports - double the S3 - 1394 and ESata on the back panel, etc. - an almost perfect board for my build. Other boards won't allow the install of a crossfire setup and still have access to an X1 slot, which I thought I needed for my Xonar - this one does, but more importantly, the onboard audio is very good compared to several iterations ago, and I ended up not needing it after all.The bios is unusually flexible and very easy to navigate - great for tweaking without being SO detailed that you burn things up or tweak it until it won't boot. Hard reset and CMOS clearing are accessible, the pins and headers are clearly labelled and the manual is actually very useful - for a change.I normally mainly consider Asus or Gigabyte for my bilds, but this board has educated me. I've had real problems with ECS, MSI and Biostar in the past, but now, rather than just considering Gigabyte, EVGA or Asus, I think ASRock deserves a spot on the short list.Easy install, easy tweaking, loads of ports, clearly marked headers, excellent layout and very stable - there isn't much else to ask for, besides great customer support (which ASRock clearly demonstrated to me it has).

Does the job!
Its been working fine for 2+ weeks now since I built the computer. Do your homework and if the specs are what you need/like, then get it.. quality seems good. Small feature I appreciate is the power/reset buttons on the board... made a POST test easy on initial build outside of the case.I don't know who's fault this is, but the Coolmaster Hyper 212 Evo is SUPPOSED to be compatible with this motherboard, but the holes didn't line up exactly perfect.. they were 99.99% lined up, but required too much force to get the little screws in so I didn't want to push it and brake it, so I returned the cooler and just used the stock one for now until I figure something else out.Minor coolness.. the cold caps reflect my blue case lighting quite nicely, which can be seen well through the mesh side of the Corsair Graphite 600T

fan control on this mobo is BS. overclocking is meh at best. there are a lot of design flaws on this board. look elsewhere, like MSI or gigabyte or Asus.
