Good, affordable 2k monitor
So far so good! I had built my gaming computer earlier this year (in January) and did not want to spend a fortune on an expensive gaming monitor. What made buying my computer peripherals harder was that I was going for a white/silver theme. Finding an attractive monitor that is white/silver, affordable, 2k and can handle slightly higher than average refresh rates was not easy.I stumbled upon this monitor, HP's 27q Pavilion, on a tech website's gaming monitor review. What drew me in was the price, style, FreeSync compatibility and ability to get over 60 Hz refresh rate.I don't use my computer extensively for anything else outside of light gaming at the moment; but will eventually connect my MacBook Pro to it for a second larger monitor for when I'm working from home. The colors look great to me and the screen is large and clear. I have not had any screen tearing when playing Anthem or The Division 2.I was also able to get my refresh rate up to 74-75 Hz by using the Gaming - FreeSync mode. I had to enable my Nvidia graphics card to allow for FreeSync, but I think it's working. The monitor was also super easy to set up! It even came with a VESA mount adapter, should you want to mount the monitor, but I didn't try it out; I just wanted the monitor for regular desk use. The only small cons would be the lack of adjustability of the monitor, both height and angle.Overall I'm very happy with my purchase so far! It looks so nice and it meets my needs.

A beautiful wide-screen panel in a mostly white casing with a touch of silver.
Just Wow! This monitor is nearly perfect. My only advice would be the input control buttons have a more tactile feel. The minimal design is just what I was looking for and matches my Mac Mini perfectly. The monitor packs more than enough gamer power and resolution. Vesa mounted though one of the screw holes in the enclosed bracket was not threaded properly. Quality control on the monitor and packing was perfect otherwise. It comes complete with cables for HDMI and Displayport to Displayport but you will need to buy a Displayport to Thunderbolt Mac compatible cable to use on a Mac. I was looking for a monitor in a white casing and kept coming back to this model. It looks fantastic and clean! The display has matte front panel that appears to be very durable. I wish is was covered in Gorilla glass like true Mac panels but it is sharp and not reflective.I am very happy with my purchase.

Best price on a quality QHD monitor
This is a solid monitor. The stand is sturdy and you can tilt it easily both forward and backwards. The picture quality is great and considering it's QHD, it's a good monitor for the money. The colors are crisp and the backlit lighting is easy on the eyes. I could not be happier. This is the best monitor in this price range. I tried this side by side w/ another monitor with lower resolution and could really tell the difference. It's worth a little more money to go with higher resolution.

Excellent home office monitor to use with an Apple MacBook
For just over $300 this is a great monitor for your home office if you have a MacBook laptop or other Apple product. I've had 24" and 32" monitors before but the 27" size seems to be just right for standard desktop home or office use. I do basic graphic design type work, not pro photography stuff, but still need good color accuracy with a decent color gamut. Per RTINGS.com this monitor covers 99% of the sRGB gamut with good greys (which is more important then most people understand) and smooth gradient blends. I have no complaints with blacks or image retention issues mentioned in that review. The HP27Q has a matte screen which eliminates reflections found in your typical home or office environment from windows and overhead lighting. The monitor is very bright which helps in these kind of situations too. Almost any monitor will look good in a dark corner but finding one that looks this good in harsh lighting is rare. For example I have the monitor literally right next to a window which is normally the kiss of death for your typical glossy LCD display. The off axis viewing isn't great but as a personal desktop monitor it should be front and center at all times making this a non-issue. I would not recommend it as a gaming or pro color type screen as its just not saturated enough. Text and menus are sharp and clean at 2048 x 1152 which I find easier to see (less eye strain) compared to the monitors max resolution which 2560 x 1440 = QHD (2K) or four times the pixels as 720p.Amazingly the monitor comes with both HDMI and standard (not mini) DisplayPort cables. Equally impressive was a nice sturdy box with good packaging and a handle which makes moving it easy and safe. The power connection is not a big wart that covers other plugs on your power strip thankfully. The supplied cables seem to be of higher quality then the typical "free" stuff they throw in the box. The power supply barely gets warm. What makes this monitor really stand out is it's aesthetics - it looks like an Apple product with smooth white plastic and real aluminum pieces. The bezel is very thin but understand the screen does have about 1/4" black (non-image) area all around it. The power light is soft white when on and dim orange when off, best of all its very small, thus you could easily live with this in your bedroom and not be distracted by it at night when sleeping. The base is simple and square with a nice metal stand that holds up the screen and allows for some angle / tilt.Just a few downsides keep it from being perfect. First there is no cable management so you'll need zip ties to bundle up the wires and there is no way to hide them behind the stand (which is very solid & strong but thin). The power and HDMI cable go straight into the back so they stick out 90 degrees - I perfect cables that go in from the bottom so they can hang straight down to reduce strain plus it looks cleaner that way. The VESA mount for a bracket or wall setup doesn't inspire confidence as it just presses into the bottom instead of screwing directly into the unit's back. Finally the power and menu buttons are recessed into the back so I find it difficult to tell which ones I am pushing - I want side or bottom buttons that aren't so flat. Honestly this isn't too bad as most use cases will have the monitor just sitting on a desk using the same setup, connection and settings for years. In conclusion I am very pleased with the HP27Q at home and would immediate buy another one to use in my office. Its very bright with good color, sharp resolution and does amazing handling reflections from other light sources. I would highly recommend it for those that want to mimic the look of Apple's clean, modern white/grey industrial design.
