jumped on this when seen the price. fantastic bag
excellent price on this. some fantastic options for storage with this bag.i had used a 30L bag for day trips but it was starting to get cramped and was only top loading. this is great as you can pull the cords and have a really flat pack with not much kit or can loosen them and have a really big pack. with the addition of the zips coming all the way down so you can front load/unload items too.fits me fine, am 5foot 5 and really stocky.great features on the side for holding longer items underneath the side pockets.

It's best feature is the fact that it is front opening
I'm going to take this backpack for 8 months around the world, as it has lots of space for all I need without being oversized. It's best feature is the fact that it is front opening, which makes it much easier to pack and unpack. Better value than the few other front opening 50l backpakcs. Very comfortable and adjustable- I am 6ft3 and it fits well. Seems to be good quality material and has a couple of large side pockets. Nice colours too. Would recommend.

Real quality from a company that knows.
Watched and read lots of reviews before buying the Kelty Redwing 50 and all were positive. On receiving it I am not disappointed, fantastic backpack. I will only use it for day hikes or maximum 3 day hikes and it will hold all the equipment I need with careful packing. Robust build and designed by people who appreciate hiker’s needs. Great product, and very happy to own it.

Highly durable, versatile pack for college and backpacking
I wanted a comfortable, very durable backpack with a waist belt and a laptop sleeve, and this is it! For a year and a half, it's seen daily college use and multiple backpacking trips. NOTHING has broken, not even after getting partially run over by the car!Zippers don't catch, thick plastic buckles haven't cracked, straps haven't unraveled. The carry handle on top has repeatedly supported 30+ lb. and shows no signs of ripping. The only complaints are that my water bottle wore a small hole in the mesh of the side pockets from setting it down on the floor so much at college. The front face also suffered mild scratches and a couple small nicks from leaning up against concrete walls. Although the laptop sleeve fits a 15" Dell XPS, it barely sticks over the top of the pocket, so I just carry it in a separate laptop case in the main compartment. However even an 11" wide notebook fits comfortably inside. Plenty of compartments for school supplies, books, racquetball rackets, and a sack lunch. The waist belt makes 30 lb. of books feel like 5 on my shoulders! For hiking 10+ miles in a day with 35-45 lb., the waist belt is still sufficiently comfortable as long as you've got thick jeans or something to give a little extra padding to your hips. Adjustable shoulder and chest straps also tailor the pack to you. Fits large hammock, small sleeping bag, inflatable pad, food, water jug, clothes, and other gear for an overnight hike all inside, and the webbing loops underneath came in handy to strap my sleeping bag and pad on the outside for multi-day hikes.Such a wonderful investment that we've now got 3 of them!UPDATE (3.5 yrs. after purchase):I have been very happy with my purchase of the Kelty Redwing 50 (bought a second for my dad and have highly recommended it to others). I have used mine as a school backpack for 5.5 semesters of college and taken it on about a dozen backpacking trips (generally 1-3 nights). It has been very durable and spacious, but I discovered the aluminum stay that acts as the spine was broken on the last trip because it made a popping sound as I hiked. The aluminum fatigued and snapped in two where the waist belt meets the pack as seen in the attached picture. Five weeks after requesting a replacement under the lifetime warranty and a few emails later, I installed the replacement aluminum stay today, all for free. It's encouraging that Kelty is one of the few companies remaining that makes quality products, honors their warranties, and has friendly representatives! Way to go, Kelty!!!

best bag!
Amazing backpack!! I was a bit skeptical at first about this bag but after watching a few video reviews on YouTube I gave it a shot and really am satisfied with my experience. I travelled with it around Asia for 2 months and never had a problem. It's solid, spacious and has a lot of pockets. If you compress it enough you can carry it with you as a "carry-on" in the airplane (I never had to check it in) even as a 50L backpack.I was comparing this bag a lot with different models of Osprey (quite expensive brand) and this bag destroys them in every way. You will not regret this purchase!

Recommend!
I used this for 6 weeks on a Euro and UK trip spring/summer 2018. I loved it. Good back and hip support. For the most part didn't mind carrying it around. Your back will get sweaty but for the price I'm not complaining. The Osprey ones with airflow are way more expensive and only top loading. I really liked that the straps have little eleastics attatched to roll up the excess strap hanging so less likely they will get caught up. I wish you could pack away the straps but by clipping em around each other it was all good. I usually put my rain cover (bought separately) on "backwards" and if I had bought it a tad bigger it would if been perfect for checking it. Slipped off a few times but didn't lose it. I think I could of only used it as my carry-on on most airlines but I didn't as I had too many liquids anyways so I checked it and my husband carried on his carry-on as it was a bit bigger then his and didn't wanna risk it not fitting anyways. It fit a lot and packed full weighed approx 24 lbs.
