Attaching the charging station and lights is optional. You can bolt the charging station on and it can be placed on the right or left side. The lights are held on with a sticky tape and plug into the charging station with the usb plug that is on the light cord.

Q: Are the slats on the daybed welded to the frame, or do you have to connect each slat to the frame?

The slats are not welded to the frame. You will have to put each slat in place.
