Samsonite Silhouette XV Softside Luggage with Spinner Wheels, Twilight Blue, Large Glider Case

Great bag! overall I love the wheels, handle, size and pockets. The only con is the size of the handle they increased it from a standard 6" wide handle to an 8" wide handle which makes it easier to maneuver but restricts the options for brief cases or laptop backpacks which can be used with this bag. As a frequent traveler I am always taking the laptop bag on and off my luggage. luckily, my ebags slim professional backpack can fit with a little coaxing, annoying but not a show stopper.Wheels- the dual wheels are a must the spherical spinner aspects allows this thing to glide along. My only gripe is the 7.5 inch depth makes this somewhat unstable if not loaded with enough weight.Handle- it is a very sturdy handle easily moving up and down effortlessly. I know this sounds terrible but if you have only owned bags under 100 dollars you get used to the wiggle and play in a luggage handle, this sucker does not wiggle at all. again the only con is the handle is too wide for a lot of brief cases and laptop bags so measure your personal item to make sure it can fit over the handle.Size- this is 21x13x7.8 including wheels which makes it perfect for almost every airline as a carry-on. Here is a list of all carry on (useful link removed by amazon). Now size does matter especially for those of us without airline status. If you are last to board the chances you will get your luggage screened for size greatly increases. Especially if they are running out of room. Now you say don't they just gate check our bag well yes most of the time unless your bag looks too big in general at which they will make you put it in the baggage sizer. If you bag is too big to fit with wheels you may have to pay bag check fees since it does not qualify as a carry-on in the first place.Pockets- I really hate not having front pockets for my luggage. I really love the look of all aluminum or polycarbonate but without those front pockets traveling is just a little more annoying. For instance you are starving and have an hour to kill in a lay over. You grab a coffee and food to eat on the plane (you do not want to hear about plane food or how many times airlines actually clean their coffee pots) after buying a few magazines too you realize your plane is boarding, NOW. You grab your wallet, coffee, food and magazines and run to the gate. Your ticket is on your iphone so now you have to pull out your iphone and pull up your ticket while the gate agent is staring at you. without those pockets you have to hold the food bag in your mouth, the magazine under your arm, coffee in one hand while operating your iphone with the other. Just take my word for it the outside pockets come in handy.Overall I would rate this bag a 4.5 out of 5. I do not know about longevity but I will update if anything major breaks. I own bags in every size from 17" - 30" and from B&R to Delsey

I got this bag because it's the perfect maximum size for Southwest's carry-on limits. The expansion feature was also important to me, but that feature turned out to be a disappointment on this bag because the expansion zipper only goes part-way around the suitcase. So when the bag is open in front of you, you only get a little expansion on the right side. On other suitcases, the expansion zipper goes all the way around the bag, effectively making the whole bag a little deeper.Pros:Perfect size for Southwest carry-on baggage requirementsThe bag extends down between the wheels, giving you a little extra room.Wheels roll well (so far).Good arrangement of zippered pockets.Cons:Too big for many airline carry-on size limitations (e.g. I had to gate-check it on American)The "expansion" feature is pretty lame. The zipper only goes part-way around the bag. So basically, the expansion only benefits half the suitcase.

Solid construction and good wheels. One of maybe 3 other bags out there that is actually small enough to pass international and domestic standards on most every airline. Don’t be fooled by listed dimensional on bags- they are almost always wrong. Actual dimensional of this bag with wheels are 21.5 x 13 x 9 inches (10 if stuffed). I researched over a hundred hours and purchased multiple bags over the last year and this was my final choice.

The media could not be loaded.  This was a replacement for my older Samsonite 25 inch roller that was starting to show a lot of wear. I was initial skeptical about the four spinning wheels being able to withstand wear from normal travel use. I was afraid one of them could easily break off. On recent trips to San Francisco and Hong Kong, I am happy to see that this new spinner worked great and passed the test. Nothing broke and it was so easy to roll around throughout the airport. However, just to let people know, the desirable feature of effortlessly moving the bag only works on hard floor surfaces (not carpeted floors). Therefore, I am glad that most of the time at airports, hotels and train stations, the floors did not have carpets.——————————————————————Update 11/2/2018Unfortunately, I found that after claiming my bag that one of the wheels was partially ripped/cracked off (see video). I noticed this when I was no longer able to move the upright bag on its wheels as is the main benefit of spinners. The fact that one wheel was mangled eliminated this benefit and I then had to pull the entire weight of the bag like a roller suitcase. Something happened between the time I checked it and the time I claimed it. The wheel looks so mangled that I believe it got trapped in some sort of machinery in the system. So based on my original purchase date in February, this bag only lasted eight months. I am really dissapointed because I have used this bag on several flights between the same airports with nothing ever happening. I have to admit these spinner wheels are on the small side and this prone to situations of getting easily stuck and damaged in machinery of a baggage system. I don’t know if Samsonite’s warranty will cover repair of this wheel. Even if it is, it is a hassle to send it in and wait weeks to get it back.Update 1/29/2019I got lucky and was able to find the last compatible replacement wheel available on a different online shopping site for $25. They are hard to find for this particular Samsonite model. It was very easy to unscrew the mangled wheel and use the existing screws to attach the new wheel. Hopefully whatever caused the original wheel to get all torn apart won't happen again.

It fits in the 22 x 14 x 9 sizer! I know it seems like it won't from the actual manufacturer dimensions, but I walked it into the airport before I decided to keep it (tags and all) and dropped it right into the sizer. Fit great!

Great quality as expected from samsonite. Handel, spinners, balance are are top notch and easy to roll around. Even with my CPAP machine on top. Fits the carry-on measurements for Sunwing. And tons of room inside, even squeezed in my 15.5in laptop with it's sleeve. Just bought a 2nd one in blue for girlfriend cause she was jealous of mine.

I was a bit concerned about the size, but this is a sturdy suit case which is great for longer trips. Just don't over fill to avoid extra weight charges on flights. I suggest buying a travel scale.

Great luggage, and what I expected from Samsonite. I ordered the Napa Red and it is a bit darker than the picture, more on the burgandy/wine side-which I prefer. Have used it once so far and it did not disappoint. Lots of space inside and the wheels glided across smooth and cobblestone surfaces.
