Hi-Tek Naturals Lamb Meal And Rice Formula Dry Dog Food For Less Active And Large Breeds, 30-Pound

I have been using HiTek Naturals for about 6 months now. I have always ordered the 30lb bag. This time they were out of the larger bag. So I ordered the 17lb bags for a bit more money. I opened the first bag and noticed a strong smell. I really cant explain the odor. I didnt think it was anything other them a preservitive? The kibble was also noticably lighter in color. The dogs did fine on it for the 2 weeks they have been eating it. I opened the second bag and the same smell came out. I called the company last night and was told to throw it out. They are sending me 2 replacment bags. I was told they keep samples for 9 months and would have it lab checked in hhouse. I asked to be informed of their findings.

I wanted to switch to an online food as my local feed store always seemed to be out of Naturals. I was using the regular chicken Naturals, but decided to try this one since my dog had occasional issues with the regular. This has been about the 4-5 bag, but still issues. Maybe my dog is super sensitive, but I have switched to another brand and no more problems.

This product -eg the 35 lb bag- just DOUBLED in price, from 35 to 63$ for a 35lbs bag. Strangely the price for the 17 lb bag has remained unchanged..Delivery was prompt (prime), but on opening the bag the rancid smell was overwhelming. Granted it is still summer, but this bag must have been in a warehouse storage for some time.Aside from the rancid smell, it looked as advertised, small kibble without coloring, ingredients said to be all from the US.However, there is no justification to grossly overcharge for it.I will not reorder for that reason. While on extended travel we switched our dog to the Chicken Meal and Rice formula of this brand and she loved it. When we arrived home I was unable to easily locate the same flavor but did see this Lamb Meal and Rice formula quickly available through Amazon Prime.This is the "shame on me" part: I read the reviews and several folks complained about a chemical odor coming from the food. I wrongly assumed they smelled the lamb content since lamb can be fairly odorous. The smell is NOT lamb, this food stinks of some sort of chemical. My dog refused to eat it and she is not a finicky eater. I checked the use by date on the bag and the food appears to be fresh.Not sure what the issue is but I wasted a ton of $$ on dog food I have thrown away.I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS FOOD. Yep, shame on me for foolishly trying it despite spot on reviews.

Our Golden, Lab mix just gobbled this stuff up like it was a steak dinner. After about 2 1/2 weeks she developed a very loose stool. Weaned her off it and have started another food with a pork/sweet potato base. Just hope this one works on her digestive system.

Did not like the smell of this food. It smelled sort of like chemicals. The dogs ate it although my girl dog, who usually wolfs her food down, started eating slower and slower till she finally turned her nose up to it after about two weeks.

I am so glad Amazon had our brand! After our distributor went out of business, I couldn't find Hi-Tek anywhere! We switched our two Cattle dog mixes to Hi-Tek from Blue Buffalo after it made our 9-year-old gassy. This food is all natural and made in America (even the packaging is made in the USA) and I can get a huge bag of Hi-Tek for $20 less than other natural brands in the pet store with Amazon's free shipping. When I forgot to order more food and had to get another natural brand at the pet store, my dog turned her nose up at it and waited until we got the Hi-Tek in the mail (the next day) to eat!I don't know what I would've done without Hi-Tek! Natural food on a budget.

There is another reviewer that has had the same issue that I had with the product, I ordered two bags of this food, and both had a lot number of 29612 20:10 and 29612 20:13. Both bags of food arrived completely stale and when I called the manufacturer to notify them, they always gave me an excuse of why no one could help me and that they would return my call. Its been weeks, and I have called near to a dozen times and never got a call-back. This food is dangerous and the company won't take responsibility buyer beware.
