good value
I was considering the original shoulder cushion product by Alan Gordon, which is popular with professional videographers. As I don't use my shoulder rig often I decided to save a few bucks and try this product.I used this on a recent shoot, and it did exactly what I hoped for. It took away a lot of the pain in my shoulder, and wasn't too inconvenient to wear. I was concerned that the added height might put my EVF or camera in an awkward position, but it wasn't difficult to adapt to. The comfort benefit outweighs the change in ergonomics. So, right off the bat, I will recommend this product. The downsides to this product over the Alan Gordon product:• Straps seem very lightweight, and got bound up in the adjustment buckle the first time I used it.• The internal padding is one large foam piece, a very thin foam piece and a hard plastic piece between the foam. I was hoping to shape the internal foam contour to the angle of my shoulder. I believe the Alan Gordon product allows for this, but this Openmoon product will require some shaving and shaping to make that happen.Overall, I'm pleased to have purchased this. As I haven't used a shoulder cushion before, I wasn't sure if it would be worth it or not...but for me, it is. So much so that I recommend the Alan Gordon product for only $10 more if anyone uses a shoulder rig a lot. Also know that the Alan Gordon cushion is available in two sizes. I believe this Openmoon product is similar to the smaller version of the Alan Gordon product. I am 5'7" and it happens to fit me just fine.Whichever product you buy, a shoulder cushion can be a very welcomed piece of kit if you shoot with a shoulder rig.
