LIFESAVER!
I recently started to embrace and accept my role as the family mechanic. With this comes polar situations of simple/fast fixes and complex/frustrating maintenance. The job was for my uncle who hadn’t done any work in the last year but had most recently done an oil change at lex Brodie’s. They had impacted the oil pan drain bolt on 😤 and I found myself completely rounding the oil pan bolt between the 6-pt socket & wrench, extractor bite sockets and vise grip pliers we used.At last hope, I saw a review of this product on ChrisFix and decided to try it out. I’m soul glad I did!!! This thing, although can take a little bit to find a good angle and bite (depending on your bolt size) does the job!!! The material is strong and the tool is made well. I got the 2.0 version and would 10/10 recommend. I could see this being a very handy litto nifty gadget no doubt being a useful and essential tool to have access to. Get dis bugga in your tool box! You’ll be soul glad you did🙂

thinking it couldn’t be that great, but I missed my window and it arrived ...
For what it’s designed to do, it performs superbly well. I was at the point of using an angle grinder to cut off frozen, rounded off bolts from a driveshaft, and when I saw Scotty Kilmer’s little plug for this, I thought “Why not?” I actually tried to cancel the order after placing it, thinking it couldn’t be that great, but I missed my window and it arrived anyway, so I tried it—fantastic piece! So with a 3/8 ratchet, small as the handle was, I struggled to get any leverage on the bolt, but this device clamped down incredibly tightly on the 9/16 bolt that was rounded off. I took my 1/2 DeWalt Impact Drill, attached a 1/2-3/8 conversion socket, then was able to connect my impact drill to this socket and pull the bolt right off in about three seconds. Awesome. Now this is not at all a solve-all for rounded bolts, because it’s so bulky and won’t fit in a lot of places where bolts reside. Four of the other bolts on the front end of the drive shaft wouldn’t accept this socket because they were hemmed in by other metal ridges that prevented this from sitting on them. Conclusion: If your rounded off bolt has enough clearance around its circumference to fit this device, it will do its job incredibly well. I think I’ll put this to really good use in years to come.

Does the job of multiple bolt extractors. Easy to use and works great.
Helped me remove a badly rounded off oil drain plug with ease. It does the job of having multiple bolt extractors and comes with a plastic box that fits nicely in to the corner of my toolbox. The only downside is that since it is a "once size fits all" tool, the diameter is a little larger than using traditional, individual bolt extractors. However, I don't feel this is enough to knock one star off. Looks very well made and looks like Craftsman tools of the past (as opposed to the harbor freight bolt extractors I have; which work well also but the metal is of much poorer quality) and should last a long time. Neat tool to have.

Didn’t work for me. But well built.
Unfortunately the low profile height of my Semi rounded bolt head was unable to be held by this tool in order to rotate it. It is well-built and the design seems like it would work, but unfortunately it didn’t work for my application you also do you require good clearance around the bolt in question. If it’s tight, low profile, or recessed in any way, then this probably isn’t the tool.

Heres the Straight truth
Heres what you need for this to work out for you.... Space, and Patience, and the right size Bolt. The Overall Outside diameter of this is 1 3/8". With the bolt to tighten it, you will need between 1 5/8" to 2 3/8" clearance on one side of the offending bolt, depending on the size of the bolts head. The bigger the bolt head, the more space you will need. I was trying to remove a oil pan drain plug that was rounded off, and had decent access to it, but could only get it on one way. I noticed that as you tighten the set screw, the head of it turns against the offending bolt head, and it naturally wants to creep upwards, and off the head. If it had a stationary head on it, say, like a C-clamp that didn't turn with the bolt, it would work 10x better. Also, if the offending bolt has a low profile head (like my oil pan plug) Your S#$t out of luck. just not enough meat to get ahold of.After a long struggle, i got the piece to get a good, solid bite on the bolt head, and tightened it down to the point I thought it would start to strip the set screw. I mean a good, serious bite....... Put my ratchet on it, and slowly added pressure..........Popped right off. Tried it 2 more times, and went back to the old stand-by, a flat chisel and a hammer. Knocked a notch in the side of it, 2 taps later, it was loose. This tool has its use, I'm sure, and I'll keep it in the tool box for a rainy day, but conditions have to be right for it to work for you. Late-model autos are so cramped for space to begin with, if your looking for this to save you, you might as well be lost.

Worked well! I doubted it it would.
My son stripped the bolt to his F250’s oil drain bolt. It was rather soft weak bolt material. It was rounded off a lot (maybe 75-85%). We bought a 19mm damaged bolt remover from an auto parts store that claimed it would work on bolts rounded to 85%. Well...it would not even bite at all on the head. Found this on Amazon and thought it might work and was worth a try since it would be here in a few days and we could wait. At first it didn’t seem like it would work because it didn’t seem to want to bite much. We followed the included instructions (never seen a socket with directions before) and after reading them again and following them exactly, it came off. It seemed like the key was to get a solid blow with a hammer to seat the socket and then use a wrench to lock the socket tighter with the attached bolt. After that I used a long breaker bar while applying upward pressure to the socket and bolt to minimize any uneven side pressures that could cause the socket to jump off the shallow bolt head. All in all, I don’t think this will work on all situations (no tool does/will) but it worked well. I was impressed! I would think this is a good addition to anyone’s tool box.

Pops off when using on rounded bolt heads
I had a bolt head that got rounded and this didn’t work. I could tighten it on but as soon as I would attempt to use it, it would pop off. Maybe it works on smaller bolts.
