This motion sensing bulb works perfectly in my garage. Installed after replacing the garage door opener with a unit that did not turn on the lights when walking in front of the safety beams. The garage door opener works great but Genie saved that feature for a more expensive upgraded model...seriously Genie ?! I thought about trying to rewire the Genie to turn on the lights when the safety beam was crossed but without the schematics finding the correct place to connect wires to was too risky.My solution was install this bulb into an outlet I installed. Sorry I know not everyone has the knowledge to just add an outlet but for those who do this bulb will work. It is installed at a height of eight feet and is sensitive to sixteen feet in all directions.Only minor complaint I have with it is that I wish it were brighter. It gives off the equivalent of 70 watts of light and on a dark night or in a dark space it is more than enough to allow you walk thru safely. ( I said it was minor)

ProsI put two of these bulbs in my garage fixtures on the ceiling.As long as there is no exterior light they will come on the second we crack the garage door.Wife says "they are always on" but they aren't. If you very very slowly open the door and peak through the crack you can catch they turning on.ConsThey could use a feature to increase the time they stay on. They go off in about 30 seconds. It would be good to configure up to 5 min.If there is any light they will not come on. This is too bad as the garage is a bit to dark even when the garage door is open. No way to manually turn them on. I find myself using a drop light if I am working during the day in the garage.It would be nice to disable the day/night feature and have them turn on whenever there is motion.They could be a bit brighter too.

First of all, let me say this light detects and reacts to motion extremely well. I have had this now for weeks and am happy with it and won't replace it. As named it will only light up after dusk. Just like advertised. I have the light over my front entry. Beyond the entry is a large brick courtyard. Sometimes the light will go on when there is no discernable motion in the courtyard. My theory is that the light is so sensitive it might be reacting to bugs happening to fly near the light when it is off. I'd rather have that than the light not reacting to larger objects but it would be nice to limit the "false alarms" as when the light goes off I wonder if someone is in the courtyard. There never is.

Works great in upright outdoor fixtures. Note that this is a “radar” type motion sensor bulb so it doesn’t need for the tip of the bulb to be pointed outwards for it to activate, like many motion-sensor bulbs do that have the sensor built into the tip of the bulb. I have an outdoor glass light fixture beside our carport door that this was perfect for since the bulb has to be installed upright (which wouldn’t work for a bulb tip sensor bulb that I had tried since the sensor pointed UP in this fixture, not outward).

After disappointing results with other motion sensing bulbs i gave up & began viewing replacement lanterns with built-in motion sensors for our garage area but then these showed up on Amazon so i decided to try bulbs one more time.Finally !!! Found motion bulbs that work so well !!! Our garage lanterns are enclosed with glass & have tops & bases covered with metal. Research the science behind the design & it makes sense why these work & the other types do not.These have been in use for 3 months & not one failure. Will definitely purchase again.

These bulbs may work well for some applications, but were not appropriate for what I wanted (outside bulbs near the entrance of my home). The motion sensor was so sensitive that the bulbs would always turn on when I was in my office, several meters away from the bulb and on the other side of a wall.Removing two stars because these didn't work for me, but I also want to be clear that the bulbs did seem to work as designed - it just wasn't the right design for my use (turns out, what I needed was infrared motion sensors usualy referred to as PIR).

The way my garage is setup, I have a side door with no switch for an interior light nearby. Using that door in the winter (since it's dark so much here) means tripping over things or fishing around for a flashlight.So I bought this, grabbed an outlet -> light socket adapter, and plugged this in near the garage door opener. It works perfectly. It's great at picking up movement, and it puts out enough light to see well to navigate, but not a blinding amount of light. It really works well for this application.

I love this bulb. My neighbors were asking how did I have a motion light on my porch without having to install a sensor. I explained the bulb to them-amazed. I only wish it came in a daylight/blue light color as opposed to the incandescent yellow. It does sense motion through walls, and I love that it lights up when I pull into my driveway. Great buy I need to buy one for the backyard too.
