Arthur And Mike [DVD]

General plot (no spoilers) – middle-aged guy stuck in a rut decides to assume a new identity. Meets dysfunctional young woman, and slowly, alternate truths emerge along the way. Solid performances from Colin Firth and Emily Blunt, as always. I thought the ideas upon which the plot is built were interesting and different. Some of the concepts explored are perhaps a little uncomfortable for some people although I was fine with it. There are many amusing little incidents but this is in no way a sugar-coated rom-com movie, so if the latter is what you are after, then look elsewhere. I thoroughly enjoyed this slightly unusual film and I’m happy to recommend it.

OOH how strange was this film, I love Emily Blunt and Colin Firth but it was so weired to have them both talking in American accents. I know being actors it's all part of their jobs to be diverse. Found the storyline medioca, but well acted as you'd expect from this pair.Hard to get my head round certain scenes, Didnt sit too well watching Colin Firth so out of character. But saying that its nice he isnt always depicted as the stereo type english gent in everything he does,.As you can tell cant make up my mind. Love both actors but not too sure of film. .. . . You simply have to decide for yourselves. . . each to his/her own!!

Very well acted and a good but, not light fun film. Pleased I watched it and enjoyed it. Colin Firth has made a number of slightly offbeat serious films, Well worth watching

I wasn't too impressed, it was fine but not great. I do like both Emily Blunt and Colin Firth normally but it was not really believable at all and I neither liked the clothes that Mr Firth wore in the film or the fact that he was supposed to be American, or the character that Miss Blunt portrayed. There are so many better films that they have both been in: 'Kingsman' for Mr Firth recently and for a cooky character for Emily Blunt, 'Wild Target' to mention just one, older film.

I was disappointed with this movie. Very weak story line and mediocre acting.

We purchased this DVD on the strength of the actors. If they top your list of favourites then the film is worth watching if for no other reason than to see them practice their art with considerable ability. Storyline plausible but sound-bite script and direction poor. Will watch the DVD again in order to attempt to divine the reasons for some of the scenes.

not one of his best films, but still Colin is a delight as always

Hopefully NOT a true storyline - Emily Blunt and Colin Firth scraping the barrel to accept their roles in this poor film which realise on their names to get viewers- Lucky to get a two rating
