Awesome phone for the price.
Heavier than most but really rugged and great battery life. Love the camera features, very useful when looking for hot or cold spots. The really smart phone that saves you money on heating bills, wow!

Decent tough phone
First of all it's not 5g so that's not great, it's not clear on the specs and it should be clear. The wallet app doesn't work, can't for the life of me find a workaround so have to use my watch. The thermal imaging camera is on constant zoom so close ups don't work, it's also very low quality compared to a dedicated thermal camera.Having said that the battery is immense, very rare can I burn it below 50% it's very rugged although it's heavy, it weighs nearly half a kilo, it's close to a pint of milk in weight. I will be getting a newer 5g one when this dies, but I think it will take a lot of killing.

Flir issues, otherwise great phone, cannot recommend currently.
Before reviewing bv8900, am a long term owner of BV9800pro, which has a Flir camera too. Owned for 3 years.Major issue with the new BV8900, the Flir app is awful. It is so laggy and blurred, it is unuseable, which is terrible given that this was the main reason for buying the phone. It appears that the Flir image is zoomed in.So pointing it at anything, say tilting up and down, there is a delay in your movements appearing on the screen !In addition to that, if the opacity and focus are changed, the image becomes blurred, both for the flir and the optical overlay image.(It uses a 5mp camera to overlay with the Flir camera, which is amazing when it works propery)Something else that seems odd.The app help has instructions for high temperature mode, that is over 400c. Which there is supposed to be a button on the app display to switch. It is on the older app, and works well.So maybe its a bug.Next big change, and whilst minor to some, getting rid of the headphone socket is a bit poor from Blackview.Guess they figured why bother, but then why add an FM app, that you Need To Plug In Headphones to Act As An Antenna ???Ok. That aside, what else ?Description says dual sim + micro sd card.Nope.It has space for 1 nano sim and EITHER another nano sim OR a micro sd card.Fair enough. The screen is beautiful, it should be being new. What is new is that the display now surrounds the front camera.Bit odd but ok.Buttons.On the old 9800, volume is on the left side top. With the new 8900, they are now on the right side, right above the power button. Why ?!!?So, doing a two button hold for a screenshot isnt easy with one hand.🤦Battery is now 10000mAh compared to just over 6000mAh. 👍Be careful with the new usb C port cover. It isn't a full hinge, but a rubber tether and in my opinion, is a bit flimsy. The old 9800 pro had an InfraRed module, so you could control a tv, dvd player, infact anything that needs a remote! The 8900 doesn't have one.I am hugely disappointed, and love my old 9800, the only reason for an upgrade is it's been dropped, so has a line on the camera, plus it seems to be slowing down and the display becomes unresponsive so has to be turned off and on again.Weight wise, the 8900 is noticeably heavier, likely due to the larger battery, so bear that in mind.Overall I cannot recommend this phone right now due to the notes above. Hoping that will change once I've heard back from Blackview.Or it may come to an Amazon return and replacement, as annoying as that is.I have sent a message to Blackview support about the Flir issue, and will await their response. It may be something as simple as a faulty unit.Bought during a deal period, just over £250.

Early days as yet but so far so good
I've only been using the phone a few days now but so far it's looking good - very quick and easy set up, including transfer of everything from my old phone (Blackview BV6800 Pro) and replicating onto this one. Seems to run much faster than I had become used to, including internet speed etc.The only thing I'm concerned with is that it doesn't seem to pick up any of the wireless chargers I've tried it on - so far I've placed it on 3 different charging pads and it hasn't responded to any yet. I hope that I'm just missing something here as I'll be quite disappointed if it isn't able to charge wirelessly. Perhaps the seller can advise??

A chinese rip off of a FLIR thermal camera, does not work, & will never have any customer support
Rotten piece of renumbered (model) crap from the manufacturer blackview.Copycat software that means this has a flir thermal camera BUT doesn't run on the same software, (they don't tell you that when buying) thus it is crap TOFU DREG software that fails to work as intended.Wife had it for a month & rejected it, money back, blackview is a con, ..look on reddit for details of people grasping for solutions having thought they were buying a proper flir licensed product, ..they are not! From the word go you are being CONNED where the software is concerned, it is essentially a rip off of a rip off of the software that is used for JCB phones with flir sensors on them, but ours never worked, it was in permanent lock out mode even when the camera was re-booted, this led me to go onto reddit & elsewhere to find out that the software wasn't flirs, just the thermal sensor, & that the biggest complaints where blackview were concerned was...A. blackview DO NOT ENTER INTO SOFTWARE SUPPORT FOR THEIR PRODUCTS.B. blackview change the model number of the products (phones) to make it look like new product on the market ..except they are not! With all this in mind, the janky operating system of the phone let alone the "pretend flir" software we never had anything good to say about this phone, it was bought for the FLIR camera & the impression of legitimate flir software access & support, ..we got none because there was none.AVOID this brand. Not fit for purpose!
