Need soldering skills and should have electronic experience. I did it in two hours. I wanted a Bluetooth Speaker for my Laptop.

Cool idea but performs ok.

I got this to build inside of my Axial SCX6 Honcho. great sound and quality from it. will buy again for a new project. Bluetooth range is pretty good too.

This is a nice soldering project for anyone getting into DIY electronics. The soldering is not too difficult; the hardest part is probably the 2 surface mount chips, but if you take your time you'll be fine. The result is a nice working speaker. The sound quality is okay, but you shouldn't expect much from a USB powered device with only 2" speakers. In the end though you will be proud of what you put together!

I let my nibling build this kit, and it went pretty well as a first time solderer.We used the extended PDF instructions (separate download). The steps were laid out well but sometimes combined two different pieces for brevity. The pictures were nice, but I found them best viewed on a device so you can zoom in for details.There isn't any real theory of operation in the manual, but the schematic is fairly simple so you can walk through that for better understanding of the function.The grounds pads are spoked to the ground plane so you don't have the issue of some joints requiring extra heat. The kit does start with a little challenge, in that you have to solder the SOP-8 surface mount amplifiers first. The rest is pretty easy through-hole, or large surface joints like the micro usb and bluetooth module.The case assembly is worth looking ahead at. You have to brace the internal supports to get the screws started and tension them a bit. The side panels require holding a small nut with tweezers or needle pliers. Hopefully you don't lose any hardware inside because they'll probably end up stuck to speaker magnets.Functionally we had no issue. The device powered on. It is available for pairing as long as nothing has connected to it. The buttons, jacks, and volume dial all worked as expected. It does have separate analog, and bluetooth volume; check both if your sound is low.Speaker sound is not amazing as you would expect. For 3W per channel they do a decent job though. Noisy music suffers a lot, and bass is lacking of course.

I have been wanting to get into electronics repair and building and have picked up several electronics build kits to practice and perfect my soldering skills. The problem with a lot of the other kits is that while they teach a variety of skills, like soldering smt LEDs, polarized through hole capacitors, and the like, they are often just demonstration boards, things like just flashing lights or something which demonstrates that the circuit works, but isn't really useful outside of proving that you did it right.This kit results in a working Bluetooth speaker if done correctly, so it has a pracctical use well after the initial training on the board. I like being able to use an item that I put together and it is a constant reminder of my accomplishment. This kit is a challenging one, but the reward of having something useful makes it a cut above. It is definitely worth the price.

If you've got a little soldering under your belt and want to actually build your first or second project, this is a great kit. The components and PCB are all of decent quality and there's an extra of each resistor. Small note -- I'm used to going by color codes, but these resistors were pretty weird to read. I would have assumed the color codes went in the opposite direction if the values weren't printed.

Bought this to put together with my nephew since he's been getting more and more interested in electronics. I think this is a pretty good starting point for a young tinkerer i.e. they get to see all the parts, and the end result is something they will use and already understand. That's a win for a meaningful electronics project IMHO.
