Steamy Hockey Romance
Tw: se*ual harassment and as*ult, panic attacks, thre*ts to a childThis was a good book. It had a couple statements that seemed not necessary to me. Little comments about acting like a man and such. They seemed very minor but it annoyed me all the same. For the most part this book was great. The FMC is a total bada$$ and is awesome. I enjoyed her a lot. The MMC was also super cool.Single dad who loves his kid and would do anything for those he loves? Adorable.FBI trained agent turned body guard? Love itTropes: single parent, he’s her boss, bodyguard, sports romance, hockey romance, touch her and die, he fell first, fake dating, fake engagement, she can protect herself and him, protective MMC, protective FMcSpice: 🌶️🌶️Steam: 🔥🔥🔥.5Sweetness: 💗💗💗

Cute
Found this as an advertisement on FB, thought the premise was good, who doesn’t love a single dad-hockey player-billionaire? It was cute, a lot of plot holes, some confusing edits, and some missed details. Spice was meh(🌶️🌶️)over all an ok, quick read.

cute romance (some spoilers so skip my comment if you don’t want to know)
This was a cute little romance book to read. I was expecting a bit more spicy but it was still great. Only thing I didn’t like was that there were a few questionable things for Emerson’s character; if she’s supposed to be this bodyguard, why is she not doing it properly sure there’s a few mentions of looking at the surveillance cameras and sweeping the house but when’s there is a questionable person why not do thorough backgrounds on the person or report it to her superior so they can look into it instead she brushes it off. It’s like she’s not really doing what she should be doing as a bodyguard only doing things as a fake girlfriend. Anyways besides that I enjoyed the story and I’m giving it four stars just because of the few details on Emerson’s character.

This was a DNF for me
I got 25% through, and I quit. Way too raunchy for me because there’s zero chemistry between the main characters. Also, I don’t see how he’s such a great Father. Honestly, I think the hero was a jerk and the heroine wasn’t much better. Hired as a bodyguard and demanding 1.2 million to fake it? Then giving a bj? Very professional behavior.Nope. Not for me.

Hockey romance
I loved this story. Sport romances are my favorite right now and it did not disappoint. Bristol reminds me of my kids when they were younger.

Not really what I was expecting from the blurb
Several times throughout this book I found myself annoyed with the FMC. I just honestly didn’t find her character very likable and didn’t really feel any chemistry or connection between the characters. I mean within the first few chapters she’s on her knees for him. And then justifies it later on by basically saying it was to sell their fake dating story. Umm what? First of all they going at it as if his daughter wasn’t just in the other room and could easily walk in on them (not in a closed room with a lock) and other people DID walk in on them. I honestly just found that really irresponsible especially for a man who supposedly put his daughter above everything. Everything else I have to say would probably spoil too much so I’ll just go with saying I just didn’t love this book. Kyler was okay but at times he would do things that didn’t make sense or add up for a man who was made out to be some great father. I also felt like the things the daughter said and did were a little out of character for a 6 year old.

not doing the heroine any favours...
I HATED this! This book is undermining itself at every opportunity!First, the heroine is described as a tough, capable woman hired to do a job. Nevermind that her training is never really of any use in this book, because all the males in there are either predators or mindless hunks who hit first and ask questions later. Yes, the "hero" is one of the latter ones. So, despite her training, she is preyed on, taken advantage of and sexually assaulted - and so is still the damsel in distress the "hero" has to rescue. Also, I really, really hated that sexual predation was mentioned repeatedly in this book, but NOBODY went to the police! The biggest consequence was that someone lost their job...This book was a slap in the face of any woman in a male-dominated industry and anyone who had to endure sexual harrasment. DON'T BUY, IT'S NOT WORTH IT!!!

ADORATO

Spicy
Love, love, love. What an amazing book. I didn't really see the plot twist but I also did look for it to a degree. I was to into the book to think who the person making threats was. Loved how they both come together and loved little miss Bristol. Such a sweet little honest firecracker. And Jasper, such a good brother with humour. Loved the smutt.

Slow burn
This was a slow burn book.Emerson signs on as a bodyguard to Kyler's daughter. That quickly changes into fake dating. This is unlike any other hockey romance I've read before in that there was little actual on ice hockey action or experiencing the absence of the away games.I read on Kindle and read along on Audible. The voice actor did a good job, although it was sometimes difficult to tell the difference between the characters with just one person doing the voices.

Returned for a refund
Saw this book advertised on IG and thought I would give it a try.A shame it’s not on KU and you have to purchase it .. I have to say, there is certainly better fanfiction that I would pay £7.85 for, but not this. The storyline sounded promising when I read the blurb, but the writing was rushed and not well thought out in my opinion. There were so many tropes in the mix, it was almost overwhelming. Pick one and run with it. Is it a billionaire, hockey or mafia romance? The definition of ‘too many cooks spoil the broth’ (cooks being tropes in this analogy)The timeline lurches around, and in some cases the continuity is missing all together. It’s entirely contradicting at best. The story felt very disjointed, we strayed so far from the ‘my child’s life is in danger and you’re the bodyguard hired to protect her and investigate the mysterious threat’ premise, instead focusing heavily on their relationship, almost forgetting about the imminent danger to his child altogether. To be honest, outside of their frequent ‘activities’ in inappropriate settings, their chemistry was seriously slow burn and tepid at best. Their drama with other characters who turned out to be not at all important to the storyline was repetitive; and wasteful given the book’s already limited realestate. The way some of the more triggering themes have been handled are a slap in the face to anyone who has ever had this happen to them. If you want to include heavier themes, please do your due diligence and handle them with a little more care.Maybe more time spent fleshing out the story and a few more edits might have made this slightly easier to digest. But definitely not £7.85 easier. All in all it was a disappointing and uncomfortable read.. the book equivalent of having period cramps.I returned it to kindle for a full refund.
