The Hass avocados in my area keep going on sale at 2 for $1, but they are pretty ripe and need to be used quickly so I decided to get this to make guacamole when I see them on sale.If you leave out the ingredients that don’t freeze well (tomatoes, any dairy if your recipe calls for it, etc.) you can freeze guacamole so I have been freezing them in small containers as a quick snack I can grab when I’m rushing out the door.The instructions for seasoning the mortar (listed on the product page) are pretty straight forward and took under 5 minutes.The pestle tip and interior of the mortar are unfinished, so there is a good amount of friction for grinding your ingredients. The pestle is smooth to the touch, but my hand didn’t slip during the grinding process.I really like the weight of the pestle. I’ve used a plastic one before and it got tiring after a while since it was a lot lighter. The weight on the pestle really reduces the effort you have to put in.The concavity of the mortar and pestle aren’t weird/mismatched which is probably going to be helpful if you’re grinding things like seeds. This is also aesthetically pleasing so I served the guacamole right out of the mortar when my friends came over and they thought it was pretty snazzy!

I love this mortar and pestle! It's beautiful to look at; it's so classy! Most important, it works perfectly! It's just the right size and feels good in your hands! This is very sturdy and looks and feels like it should be more expensive!

I was hesitant to buy since I read so many reviews saying this was too small but this is literally the largest mortar and pestle I’ve ever seen! It’s not only easy and fun to use, but the design is so beautiful! I also saw complaints that the mortar and pestle don’t match, but they are made from real marble so the pattern of the rock won’t look identical. I still thought mine looked like they belong together. Also, the grip pad that this thing comes with is awesome! It’s actually kind of cute too with the hexagon pattern and all! I never thought I’d need one but it really helps you to be able to grind without worrying about the mortar sliding around. Overall, this thing is well worth the price! Now I’m off to make some guac!

We've only had this for a few weeks but I thought I'd drop a review because I'm so happy with this purchase. My main criteria was needing a mortar with enough capacity to make a reasonable amount of guacamole, but solid enough to handle me smashing garlic and lemongrass into paste.This little sucker is extremely solid. Heavy but not unwieldy, it responded well to initial seasoning (we ground nuts) and is very easy to clean / get your product out of. As a sort of big guy, the mortar fits my hand well and even though the bowl is nice and deep my knuckles (so far) have been safe from damage. Strongly recommend this product if you are shopping for a mortar and pestle.

I'm not sure yet if and wheb the copper will tarnish.

My girlfriend is Thai and she has all kinds of herbs in the kitchen. She has a bigger one that her uses but it's not usually the best option for smaller jobs. I bought this as a gift and she loves it and uses it often! I get to benefit from it also. 😊

I got the black stone and it looks as beautiful as it did in the photos. It came with the black rubber coster for it to sit on and it is a lot bigger in size than I expected. Also, the bottom is solid metal. I originally thought based on some reviews that it was going to be a metal lining around the sides of the bottom but no its a solid product. It is heavy and feels sturdy. I am pleasantly surprised.
