Style Name:5 Piece Set It all started in 1956 when Alfred Börner, a toolmaker by profession, started the business manufacturing an onion cutter. This cutter was made of wood with four razor-sharp blades bent in such a way to make cutting onions into cubes easy work. This one invention sparked many more, and product demand increased worldwide. Börner has become a well established company over the last 50 years, producing state of the art kitchen tools in Germany. They manufacture the finest quality vegetable slicers and mandolins on the market today and are leaders in design and technology. From the V-Slicer Plus to the Combi-Chef? and Veg' Art Prep Tool, Börner products help add creativity to any gourmet meal. For specific food preparation styles, the Design Line Series was created in the late 1990?s. Beginning with the Thin Julienne Slicer to the latest V-Wave Waffle Slicer, the addition of these various individual slicers makes creating a culinary masterpiece an easy and enjoyable task. You too can prepare foods like a professional, with safe and simple to use Börner products. The V-Slicer Plus Mandoline is made of durable ABS plastic with German surgical grade stainless steel blades. 7mm and 3.5mm blades will julienne or shred cuts; slicing insert will cut thick or thin slices. The ambidextrous Food Safety Holder has a serrated edge to safely push food off slicer, requires very little pressure. Steel pins grip most sizes and shapes of produce to create even slices every time. The caddy with safety clip offers easy storage. Easy to clean; rinse under hot or cold running water immediately after use.

Very Versatile
I bought this slicer a few weeks ago and I use it almost every day so versatile, amazing. Only one small criticism though, the photograph shows the slicer as white in colour, the one I received is a dodgy off white, nonetheless still works great.

A practical and useful kitchen product
This is my first mandolin and while the thin slicer is not as fine as I would have wished (it's fine but not paper fine), it is a very useful gadget for slicing a huge range of vegetables and fruit. I haven't tried slicing salami or hard cheeses but I'm sure it will do the job. I am particularly pleased with the julienne blades; they are fantastic for stirfries. To start with, I wasn't as careful with the finger guard as I should have been. The guard is very useful but difficult to use with very small bits; the tips of my fingers bear witness to this! I have since ordered a microplane glove and.... problem solved! Microplane Cut Resistant Glove 09-34007 The slicer is very easy to use and store and simply needs rinsing under the tap after use. It seems to be well made and makes short work of tons of veg preparation.

Swissmar Borner
I have had one of these for a few years and found it one of the best kitchen gagets I have. We bought one for our youngest sons birthday and he is absolutely delighted with it. Although I have a food processor I still prefer using the Borner V when it comes to jobs like making coleslaw, I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who loves to cook. Graham.

Not what the price would lead you to hope.
This is, indeed, extremely sharp, which is very much in its favour. The safety guard takes a little getting used to, but not a great deal, and is certainly necessary: it inevitably leaves a little in the way of unsliced leftovers, but not so much as to negate its purpose. The 6 pieces constitute slicer, plain insert, plastic storage box, safety guard, and only 2 blades, both coarse. The basic slicer slices thickly.I wouldn't recommend this if you're looking for an aid to fine or medium slicing and chopping, as I was. If you want ease and consistent results, and don't mind that they're rather chunky, you'll probably like it.

Beats all the rest
Like the other reviewer I bought mine several years ago. It's used almost every day in my kitchen & so easy to use and clean. You can make a great salad in seconds, uniform and crisply cut, no squashed tomatoes and bruised celery. You do have to be careful and use the cup/hand guard for most things, but it's so easy to use. I have sliing attachments for my Kenwood Chef, but this is much less effort unless you are doing a party for 50! You can do small quantities without any trouble, ideal if you are the only salad eater in a family. It will cope with root vegetables too, everything ready for stews and soups in moments. The blades star sharp for ages, in fact I have mine for about 4 years and still it's as good as the day it was new.

I got this product 5 years ago and i use it almost every day and it still makes beautiful slices and salads, i love it!you can use this product for so many things like making julienned carrots and beetroot, fine coleslaw, cucumber salad, and so onmake sure to use the guard, otherwise you are heading your hand toward a very sharp blade!
