Good lightweight sharpener for hiking or camping
I picked up this sharpener to take with on camping trips and when we're out hiking. As described, it comes with a pair of v-notch sharpeners (carbide and ceramic), a diamond rod for serrated blades, as well as a compass and some form of a whistle. I like that it's lightweight and small enough to keep in a jacket pocket. In regards to sharpening, it has two v-notch sharpeners: a carbide set for getting extremely dull blades back into shape quickly and a ceramic set for honing the blade into a finer edge. I tried these on several old non-serrated steak knives we had. Considering these knives haven't been sharpened in years, it did a decent job bringing them back to life. Unfortunately, I don't currently have any serrated blades that need sharpening so I can't say how well the diamond rod is. In a survival setting, the compass does actually work and the whistle, while a bit odd to use, does make noise. Concerns I had were mostly with the sturdiness of the plastic body. While it should work fine as designed, it doesn't feel extremely solid and the plastic seems to be of a less expensive variety. The only other issue I had with the sharpener was the lack of instructions. If you've used one of these before, it shouldn't be a problem. However, if you've never used a carbide sharpener, you may not realize you shouldn't push down on the blade while using it. This can remove much more blade material than you intended as well as create an uneven blade edge. Overall, for the money, this seems like a decent enough little sharpener that should help keep your knives useful when away from home. The addition of a compass and a whistle are never a bad thing, especially if you plan on using it in the outdoors.

The Hone Ranger Rides Again !
Waay back in the 90`s I used to manage a Knife Shop ("Cutlery World")... Of course, I gained quite a knowledge of blades..... and blade sharpeners. The best sharpeners we carried were a set called 'Crock Sticks', featuring variable grain ceramic sticks at a pre-set angle to give your knives a fresh honed edge. For more stock removal (edge grinding) we had sharpening steels. I have to hand it to the Vickay Pocket Knife Sharpener; this lil` sucker combines all of the best sharpeners that we offered the public, but in a compact, lightweight, easy carry form. Now, I will state that this is not what I would recommend for all-purpose blade maintenance. You really DO need a more comprehensive and stable (larger) sharpening system for the best blade maintenance... But; if you are going out-n-about in the great outdoors--or even just off on vacation-- then this pocket sharpener has got you covered. I was doing some yard work today, and I had stashed the Vickay Sharpener in my pocket, and after using my pocket knife to cut a few things ( some nylon rope, a few cardboard boxes that needed busting down and an old pair of jeans that I wanted for cleaning rags) I used the Vickay Sharpener and in just a few minutes, my edge was keen and bright. When I go traveling, this is going with me. The in-frame Compass is a neat addition, and maybe I`ll give the Whistle a try some time, just for fun... But for me; having a good pocket sharpener is the point here.....and this gives you THE EDGE !

Lightweight and Multiple use
When backpacking I tend to think of everything I carry in the same way I was trained in the military. Every once you carry will feel like 10 ounces after a 25 mile march. You definitely want to pack light and be sure you get the most out if each item you carry. This is a very lightweight and useful tool for me, it's great for a quick touch-up to your blades on the tail, and the compass is something you will be glad is there if you ever need it.

Great size, but feels flimsy
This pocket knife sharpener is a perfect size and fits in my hand very well. The issue is that it is very, very light and feels flimsy. The plastic is glued together, not screwed so I do anticipate that over time the pieces will pop apart. The flip out sharpener wobbles back and forth so it is difficult to sharpen on. The compass does match the compass of my iPhone. It would have been nice if the sharpener was made up of 2 thicker pieces of plastic or some other type of more durable material and screwed together so that this is something that would last. The sharpener does put a nice edge on the knife which is it's saving grace.

Excellent for outdoorsmen
This is an excellent little gadget to take along on camp outs, fishing trips or hiking trips. It will sharpen both straight edges and serrated edges. Best of all, it will sharpen fish hooks too! Who knew anything like that existed? I didn't! Also has an emergency whistle and a compass. Don't leave home without one! :)

Compass doesn't work
This sharpener works very well on several different types of knives. It doesn't mark up the blade, and it sharpens relatively quickly. I like that it has a way to sharpen so many different kinds. I thought it was really cool that it came with a compass on it. Unfortunately, the compass on the one I received does not work. I am a little bummed, but I got it to sharpen my knives. It does that so I guess I can't complain too much. I do wish it worked, though.
