DSD TECH SH-AU02A USB to TOSLINK Coaxial SPDIF Audio Adapter Support 96K 24Bit

I bought this since I discovered my fancy new expensive motherboard didn't have any TOSLINK outputs anymore! I want digital sound going to my receiver, so this was the next best thing. It's been working perfectly for over a year now - not a single problem. No drivers needed on Windows 11, just plug and play.

I got this to convert USB audio out from my new micro PC into optical in for my stereo receiver (again stereo- not surround sound). This works great, sounds better than analog. I used a 10ft USB 2.0 B to C cable into the DSD and my optical cable from DSD to my stereo receiver. Powered by USB, it's easy to conceal. The ONLY issue which some have mentioned is volume control but it's much less of a problem than what some have posted: all the apps vol controls still work fine (WM, VLC, Youtube) and there is no problem with audio synching to the video. The only issue is that my keyboard's vol+/- keys no longer work (mute still does though). So it's a small price to get good stereo audio again. Update: I found a great app Volumey that restored my Kensington keyboard's volume+/- keys so all good! In the app, go to Misc, then Synchronize volume of all apps to Master. That's all you have to do. Whether you are streaming, or using VLC, even minimized, it works perfectly.

Using this to convert USB audio from my PC to a TOSLINK cable running into a DAC. It works perfectly. The resulting sound is transparent, no noise, clicks or pops. I like that status light and the 3.5mm output for headphones. Very compact, very solid, and good looking -and a very strong value at the price listed. Highly recommended!

I am using this to play MP3s on my laptop over a 30’ optical cable to a Schiit D/A converter at my stereo. It works exactly as intended with high quality sound. One difference I noticed from my previous setup was what happens when there is an bitstream interruption from the laptop. My previous setup would hard dropout (like an LP scratch), whereas this converter temporarily reduces the volume and then returns to normal. Obviously there should never be such long bitstream interruptions, but the gentle volume reduction in these situations is much more desirable than a hard dropout. Recommend.

I am using a KVM switch for a mac and a pc computer. Both of them recognize the DSD (which is plugged into the KVM switch). the DSD TECH SH-AU02A is connected to a LG sound bar using the optical cable.

I bought this to link my Sony NW-A307 Walkman USB out to my car's audio system which, via an AudioControl DM-608, can accept a TOSLINK or COAX input audio source. I previously tried two other devices: 1) Cubilux USB C to SPDIF Adapter, which worked sort of (dropped connection on track change) 2) Douk Audio U2 XMOS XU208: complete fail, despite claims it would work with Android, did not even recognize the Walkman (NW-A307 runs Android 12) I am happy to say DSD TECH SH-AU02A works perfect! Audio routes from the Walkman over TOSLINK to the DM-608! The link between the devices remains when skipping tracks or when the Walkman is on PAUSE or STOPPED. Audio quality is great! Wish I had tried this device first!

I bought this for the Coaxial S/PDIF output, but it didn't work. The sound would intermittently cut in and out every 30s or so. I wanted to make sure issue was with the device and not an unrelated issue. 1) I verified I was using coaxial cables with the right 75ohm spec. 2) I verified the same mac/speakers/cables worked when I upgraded to a more expensive USB device. Giving two stars instead of on since headphone jack worked, which may be what most people are buying this for.

Excellent device for motherboards lacking fiber output, it removed all my coil-whine and grounding hiss while keeping decent audio quality. I'm considering going full optic audio now, can't wait too see the evolution of DSD devices. I really hope they get more in stock because I need to order more.

The MRP on the box is mentioned as 1668, but the seller is selling for higher price. The product feels like received from China once you see it. But it does work for opt and 3mm aux.

I'm thrilled with this. I had had an all-digital pathway into my amp, that stopped working for mysterious software reasons, since which time I haven't been able to listen to my music properly. Now I can again and it makes me happy. Based on the reviews, I thought this gizmo was worth trying, but I didn't really expect it to work. In facct, contrary to some other reviewers, I've not had a single glitch; it has worked flawlessly. My planned use was USB digital-in to optical digital-out. In that use, in my understanding, this should be a simple, lossless, perfect "pipe", and it seems to be. Probably there is the possibility of it dropping samples, but it doesn't seem to; it sounds perfect. Maybe there is timing that could be better or worse, that fussier audiophiles could worry about, but I'm not convinced that that's even a thing in this part of the chain, let alone whether I could hear the difference even if it is. I have one small reservation. As advertised, this plays 96 KHz 24-bit files, as well as the usual 44.1 and 48 KHz ones. However, I tripped across an 88.2 KHz FLAC file, and it wouldn't play that (nor a 64 KHz one I then made as a test). But I have very few of those, they seem generally rare, and I can live with transcoding them. When I bought this I hadn't even noticed that it has a headphone jack. It does. That of course means there's a digital to audio converter, and DACs (unlike digital-to-digital pipes) _will_ vary in quality. This one is good: good enough for me, and incomparably better than the one in my laptop. It's too early to judge longevity, but the device stays cool in use, which is promising. One external nut was loose, but I simply tightented it, and otherwise the quality seems good. I'm thrilled to be able to hear my music again properly, and delighted with this small and cheap gadget.
