Sound and obviously cleaning ability were my two measurement points when looking for a replacement dishwasher. The open design placement of the unit in my kitchen fires the sound toward my sofa and my ooold unit was like driving the living room through a carwash.This Bosch washer has performed well for me for just over a year. I installed it myself without too much issue. It is very quiet as advertised.I would say that it does sacrifice cleaning ability to stay quiet. It's not going to clean baked on/hardened foods without some pre-wash/scrubbing beforehand. The top silverware drawer is the same - spacing out the spoons and forks a bit is required.If I could change one thing it would be to allow a bit more flexibility in the lower basket somehow. If you have a ton of plates, it is great. If you need a mix of plates, bowls and a large pan or tray, it's tetris time but doable.I bought this unit through Amazon and don't regret it for a moment. It's worked just fine and nice and quiet.
