Quiet, Compact, and Powerful Desk Fan
I've learned to appreciate products that work out better than I expected and this fan is one of those products. I'm retired but still find myself spending a lot of time at my desk working on my computer. When I'm focusing on a task I also happen to be one of those people who will break out into a sweat even with the AC running.Every time I sit down at my desk I push two buttons, first I wake up my computer and then... I turn on my fan. So, it's a fan right? How complicated can that be?Well, to hide my clutter I have a rolltop desk. On that desk I have a large computer monitor, a pair of speakers, an electric pencil sharpener (yes, I still use wooden pencils!), a stapler, and a number of other space saving(?) necessities for working at a desk. My point is on my desk space is precious.I've pretty much determined that if a regular 3 blade fan isn't too big to sit on my desk it just isn't powerful enough to be effective. Having said that it didn't take me long to discover the benefits of a small tower fan. I did however go through several inexpensive noisy, squeaky, rattling tower fans before finally running across this nice unit. This Seville Classics UltraSlimline 17 in. Oscillating Personal Tower Fan doesn't require a lot of desk space, is both powerful and very quiet, and even the on-off button is easy to get to. Something most people might not even notice is that it has a separate button for fan speed and to turn it on and off so you don't even have to reset the speed every time you turn it on.So, it's a fan right? How complicated can that be?Nice fan folks!

2019 update
UPDATE 1-2019 Still working, still quiet, still great.Original review in 2015...This is a product that has great ratings when new, but not so great reviews when the product gets older. I will review now and later.NOW, this is an absolutely great fan! I use it in the bedroom and in the office. Given a good experience, I plan to purchase another...I'd really like the 12" one which appears to be unavailable or discontinued.PRO's.The button placement is simple and easy to remember. That makes it easy to operate the fan in the dark.I really love the sleep timer. What a great convenience! It's whisper quiet; basically a pleasant white noise. I haven't needed the upper 2 speeds, since the lowest speed washes plenty of air over me, and the oscillation provides air flow across my body. Time will tell if the rotating mechanism will start grumbling. The fan's footprint is about the size of soup bowl. I love the tower concept because it takes up less surface space on the desk or night stand.CON'sI cannot think of any for now.

Perfect product, just arrived damaged.
Perfect size fan. Excellent for white noise without being overbearing. Excellent air flow for such a small unit.Mine arrived with a small crack in it.

Has been running 24/7 for the past 447 days!
This wonderful little fan works hard for us!Our apartment has a Jack and Jill bathroom with the sink in the main room aka The Sink Room and the tub/toilet in an inner bathroom, aka The Pooping Closet. The Pooping Closet has no windows and only a lousy ventilation fan in the ceiling that that we call "The Demon Grinder." That's what it sounds like. It even vibrates the building so much I can hear it rumble when I'm out in the parking lot. It's loud and not super effective at airing out the Pooping Closet wasWe do try to keep at least 1 of the bathroom doors open as much as possible during the day, but they are still frequently closed for privacy in one or both of the bedrooms, so moisture in the bathroom stays trapped. We run the Demon Grinder for hours every morning after everyone's showers, and keep the doors open, but there is still a lot of moisture trapped in both The Sink Room and The Pooping Closet. To keep mold under control, I would mop the walls and ceiling in the Pooping Closet with bleach a few times each year. Literally slathered them with the stuff, like I was painting them with gel bleach.A little over a year ago I ordered this little fan to blow fresh air into the Pooping Closet in order to force the humid air out. I placed it on the floor, in a corner by the sink, and turned it on.It does such a fantastic job of keeping the air circulated that we have not had to bleach the ceiling at all, since turning on the fan.We keep the fan running 24/7 because some days are really humid, both outdoors and in, and the moist air gets trapped in the bathroom.Bonus! It also pushes cool AC air from the rest of the apartment into the overly sweltering bathroom, which in the summer is heated through the roof and through The Demon Grinder's roof vent. (It's an old building.)I'm impressed it's still running despite being kicked, knocked over, had hair product dripped on the buttons, and filled with all the dusty grime that accumulates in the corners of a bathroom floor over the course of 14+ months. The dirt inside has made the fan a little louder than when it was new, but that's to be expected. I don't feel like taking it apart to clean it, so it's time to replace it. Because it still works well though, I'm only moving this one to a different area.I wouldn't makes any changes to this little fan. It has solved the problem we had, and did an even better job than I had hoped for.

Impressive fan with a small-footprint, low-noise, but nice airflow.
I bought this fan for my desktop in a not-well-ventilated office that tends to heat up when my computer is working overtime (and as a PC gamer, that's often!). I love having air moving on my face and had used desktop fans in the past, but they take up a lot of room and disperse the air too much. So, in looking for a fan, I knew I wanted a tower but wanted something that wasn't overly loud but would move air quickly. I know, a tall order.Luckily the Seville fan came through in spades. This has a small footprint but moves a LOT of air for what it is. The 3-speeds are nice for when I want it to be completely silent (and it's REALLY quiet at low setting with still a fair amount of air moving) or when it gets particularly warm. The oscillating feature has turned out to be a great feature when the fan was used to keep air moving in a larger room. This really has turned out to be an incredible little fan for the money. I'm impressed!

turning smooth...no squeaking noise..handy with remote
It's the 2nd summer/year i'm using. I didn't use it evey day but at least it's still running smooth and quiet. in extreme hot night, i love to set for 2 hours to help me get into sleep that's good. I have another Seville that cost more, same features but bigger for living room. With my 2 fans' experience, I think the Seville brand is reliable.
