Q: Does this unit emits any type of noise?

Depending on individual's noise tolerance. I am very sensitive to sound and find myself comfortable with this product. But I can point out the type of sound this "ultrasonic" machine produces: 1) water dripping sound. Two to three drops per five seconds. Very soft and soothing. 2) high pink noises. Around 2000 to 4000 Hrtz. Unless your room is sound proved, or under 40 dB, you might not notice it. You can place it at certain spot of the room that the noise can be absorbed by the materials.

Q: Can this be used without essential oils? Is it easy to clean? Thx

Yes, this can be used with essential oils. It is very easy to clean. I basically just rinse it out!

Q: What does the manual say about using citrus oils in this unit?

I don't know what the manual says however I use citrus oils in mine and don't have any issues. Some oils will leave slight residue not sure if it's citrus related but it's very easy to wipe out . I own 2 different types of diffusers and I like this one the best .

Q: Does anyone know if the unit is BPA free?

Yes according to reviews and manufacturers literature it is.
